Canada is said to be in the best possible path into the medal round at the World Hockey Championship after clinching top spot in the Helsinki pool with a 5-1 victory over Belarus on Tuesday.
And Thursday, Canada faces a tough opposition in a do-or-die game against Slovakia, which won five straight games to finish the round robin. As a result, the Slovaks secured a spot in the 2014 Olympic tournament and now believe they have what it takes to win a medal here.
It may be recalled that the Buffalo Sabres made headlines earlier this month when they stunned USA 4-2 to claim their first victory at the world Ice Hockey Championship.
If Canada wins over over Slovakia, it would play the winner of the Czech-Sweden game in the semifinals - but would it be so?
