Australian Open Results Day-2 Round-1 | Hewitt and Tomic Out of Melbourne

Tomic (right) retires after losing the first set to Nadal (left) on Day-2 Round-1 match

It was a bad day for the Australians as both Australian players, Hewitt and Tomic, were left out of the race right in the first round of the Australian Open at Melbourne on the Day-2 of the competition.

The match to watch on Day-2 today was between world no.1 Rafael Nadal and Bernard Tomic of Australia. However, the match ended in unusual circumstances after Bernard Tomic retired at a time when Nadal had won the first set 6-4. Tomic, 21, pulled up with a groin injury following a serve in the first game of the match and only continued after off-court treatment.

During their time on court Nadal claimed an impressive 88% of his first-service points, with the speed of his first serve averaging 181 kilometres per hour.

In an other surprise ouster, Australian Hewitt crashed out of the competition when 24th ranked Italian A Seppi beat him in a full five set match 7(7)-6(4), 6-3, 7-5, 7-5, 7-5. The results show for itself how much resilience Hewitt put in, specially in the last three sets to win over the Italian. But Seppi proved too good to be scared and won the match.

As for other men's single events, 6th ranked Roger Federer beat J.Duckworth of Australia in straight and easy sets 6-4, 6-4 and 6-2.

In another important match, British No.1 and the Wimbledon champion Andy Murray moved to the second round beating the Melbourne heat and world No. 112 Soeda 6-1 6-1 6-3.

In the women singles' category, defending champion Victoria Azarenka of Belarus beat 91st ranked Swede Larsson 7(7)-6(2) and 6-2 to march on to possibly meet Serena Williams in the final to defend her title - or would it be Maria Sharapova coming face to face with Serena. In fact Azarenka does not seem to be in full form as she has lost six of her last ten matches - the last against Serena in Brisbane.

Maria Sharapova, the world no.3 beat American B.Mattek-Sands 6-3, 6-4 to move on to the second round.

Today, World No.6 - a 17-time grand slam champion Roger Federer plays his first final match of the year against World No.60 Lleyton Hewitt.

Aging, yet not giving up ex-world No.1 Federer was made to sweat it out by hard-hitting eighth-seeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy before prevailing 6-3 6-7 (3-7) 6-3 in their semi-final.

Like Federer, Hewitt too is 32 years but showed his fighting spirit to beat second seed Kei Nishikori of Japan in a stirring 5-7 6-4 6-3 match.

Serena Williams vs Zahlavova Strycova: Watch free live streaming - Wimbledon First Round - Day2

Continuing with the first round of matches at Wimbledon on Day-2 Tuesday, 26 June, 6th ranked American Serena Williams plays against 62nd ranked Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova on Court No.2

On the Day-1, Venus Williams had a bad day when she was osuted from Wimbled in the her very first match in the first round. This must be shocking for Serena who plays against the Czech today.

Serena has met Strycova only once at Australian Open earlier this year, beating her 6-0, 6-4.

serena has lost her last two of the ten matches in sucession on clay at Rome and French Open. In fact she withdrew at Rome against Chinese Na Li due to her lower back pain.

Oh, as far Strycova is concerend, she has a long lists of defeats - in fact she lost seven of her last ten matches, of which five were in succession, four on clay and one on grass. Her last loss was at recently concluded WTA 's-Hertogenbosch when she was beaten by M. Niculescu 7-6(6) 6-3.

Unless Serena feels unwell, she is likely to overpower the Czech.

The match is scheduled for Tuesday, 26 June 2012 at 13:00 GMT at Court No.1
