The BNL d'Italia has reached its culmination Saturday as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal qualified for the final to be played on Sunday.

In the first semi final at Foro Italico, six-time Rome champion and world no.5 Nadal beat Tomas Berdych 6-2, 6-4, while Roger Federer beat French Benoit Paire 7(7)-6(5), 6-4.

Nadal is on winning streak as he has won all of his last ten matches, while Federer has lost three of his last ten matches. Federer lost to Nadal at Indian Wells earlier this years 6-4, 6-2.

Let us watch the final Sunday afternoon and see whether Nadal can win over the aging world no.3 three or otherwise.

Nadal vs Berdych: BNL d'Italia - Italian Open Semis | Watch Live Free Streaming - 18 May 2013

Now he is up against fifth-seeded former No. 1 Rafael Nadal, who is on a 13-match overall winning streak and seeking a third title in three events and is all-time leader with 23 Masters titles.

Berdych thouh has shown shine and game, has recently lost four of the ten matches he played so fae, while NAdal has won all of his ten matches.

WTA Rome Semis: Serena Williams vs Halep | Watch Live Free Streaming - 18 May 2013

I thought Maria Sharapova would once again be facing Serena Williams in the final of Italian Open in Rome - but Sharapova's decision to pull out of Rome makes it easier for the world no.1 American Williams to cruise on and probably win Rome this year.

In the semi finals today, Serena Williams takes on 64th ranked Simona Halep, while in the other semis Azarenka takes on Italian Sara Errani.

Halep is eight years younger to Serena but age does not seem to have any effect on Serena's superb fitness to challenge one player after the other who dare to come her way.

Serena has met Halep only once in her career at Wimbledon 2011 in the second round when she beat Halep 3-6 6-2 6-1. As can be seen Halep did challenge Serena in the first set at Wimbledon - it now remains to be seen how she challenges the world no.1 today at Rome.

Italian Open: Djokovic beaten by Berdych while Sharapova Pulls out of Rome

It was a surprise day at Rome when world no.1 Serbian was beaten by Czech Tomas Berdych 2-6 7-5 6-4 to Czech in the Internazionali BNL d'Italia - Italian Open quarter-finals.

Djokovic was attempting to win his third Rome title, but has recently been troubled by pain in his ankle.

Rafael Nadal stayed on target for his third straight title as he beat fellow Spaniard David Ferrer 6-4 4-6 6-2.

Benoit  Paire, 24, reached the first Masters Series semi-final of his career with a 6-1 6-0 victory over Spaniard Marcel Granollers and now faces Roger Federer for a place in the Rome final. Meanwhile Federer beat Polish Jerzy Janowicz 6-4 7-6 (7-2) to move on.

Defeat of Djokovic and Murray earlier leaves only Nadal and Federer the top seeded players in the Rome.

Meanwhile the 2012 Roland Garros queen Russian Maria Sharapova's preparations for the French Open suffered a setback after she withdrew from the Italian Open because of illness. Maria was was due to play Sara Errani in Friday's quarter-finals.

This means world no.1 Serena Williams will not have to face Sharapova in the finals as she moved into the semi-finals with a 6-2 6-0 victory over Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro.

Djokovic vs Berdych: BNL d'Italia Quarters | Watch Live Free Streaming - 17 May 2013

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who has reached the Internazionali BNL d'Italia final four times in the past five years, will play the quarterfinal match against sixth seed Tomas Berdych at the Foro Italico on Friday today.

Djokovic, who lifted the 2008 and 2011 trophies, defeated qualifier Albert Montanes for the fifth time with a 6-2, 6-3 victory for a place in the third round. Djokovic has reached the Rome final in four of the past five years.

Czech Tomas Berdych moved on to meet the world no.1 beating Kevin Anderson 7-5, 6-2 win in 84 minutes. Berdych hit 25 winners and committed seven unforced errors to book his place in the quarter-finals for the fourth time.

The match is scheduled for Friday, 17 May 2013 12:00 GMT

Chinese Li takes on American Williams in WTA Rome Semis Saturday

WTA Rome is coming to an end now as the  Internazionali BNL d'Italia  enters into the semifianls stage.

The first semi final of the day is being played betwwen the 6th ranked American Serena Williams and 9th ranked Chineses Na Li Saturday morning today.

Li Na has called on Friday for the final four tournament in Rome. The Chinese dominated Dominika Cibulkova (6-1, 7-6 [4]), to move into the semi finals today. In the other QF match, American Serena Williams could carry on with routing F Pennetta who retired in the first set when the score was 4-0 in favour of the American.

Saturday's America-China encounter will be the seventh between the two, with Serena having a winning edge over Li 5-1.

Serena is in her best form these days, as she has won all of her last ten matches, while Li has lost two. Li last lsot to Azarenka in Madrid.
