Federer leads Berdych 11-6 in their FedEx ATP Head2Head series, but lost to the Czech in their last meeting, a year ago, in the Dubai semi-finals.

Djokovic wins Dubai Title

Continuing with his winning streak of 18 matches  World no.1 and Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic won the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship title 2013 Saturday.

The Saturday's win is Djokovic's fourth in five years here at Dubai. Djokovic is unbeaten since October and did not drop a set in Dubai.

World no.6 Czech Tomas Berdych, who 'conquered' world no.2 Swiss Roger Federer in the semis, proved no match to the Serbian in the final. Although Berdych did provide a stiff resistance int eh first set, he lost the second just too easily. Djokovic won 7-5, 6-3 to lift the Dubai trophy.

It may be added that Djokovic, the six-time Grand Slam winner, has now won all 13 matches against top-10 opponents since Andy Murray defeated him in September's US Open final.

And also for the reason that Berdych recently beat Federer in a heavily contested match 7-6(1) 6-4 3-6 6-3. And remember Andy Murray remarked before the Wimbledon that the days of first fours (that also includes him) are over??

World Number One Serbian Norvak Djokovic storms into Monte Carlo Rolex Masters tennis final Saturday after he beats T Berdych in the first semi final of the day today.

Djokovic was not himself in the first set and let Berdych take the set 6-4. But that was all he could offer to Berdych. He then struck back and took the other two sets much too easily 6-3, 6-2.

He now faces, most probabaly the defending champion and World Number 2 Rafael Nadal, who is playing the Frenchman Simon in the second semi final of the Monte Carlo Masters at this time.

Of the two semi finals planned for Saturday, the first is being played between the World Number One Serbian Djokovic and seventh seed Czech Berdych. Djokovic who is eyeing the title and may take advantage of the defending champion Rafael Nadal of his injured knee, if Nadal makes it to the final after his semi final duel with Simon later Saturday, to deprive the Spaniard the honour of winning the Monte Carlo title for the eighth consecutive time.

The semi final between Djokovic and Berdych is scheduled to be played at 11:00 GMT.

Monte-Carlo Masters Quarters: Berdych beats Murray

In the first quarterfinal on Friday at Monte Carlo, Monaco, the first setback came when World Number 4 and British Number 1 Andy Murray was beaten by 7th seeded Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic.

The Czech beat Murray in the first set 7-6, which prompted the World Number Four to strike back and win over the second set 6-2. But a resilient and determined Berdych was not stepping back and forced the British out of Monte Carlo by taking the third set 6-3 with much ease.

Murray with all his efforts could only create a single break point in the entire match.The Czech now takes on the defending champion Rafa Nadal in the semi final, if Nadal overpowers Robin Haase in the quarterfinal being played today.
