Serena beats defending champion Sharapova to win her her second French Open title in eleven years [Photo]
As I wrote in my yesterday's post, Sharapova is under the 'Serena Spell' - which makes her form whither away no sooner does she face the American. Serena and Sharapova have met 15 times in their career since they first met at Miami in 2004 - and Serena has a huge winning edge of 13-2 over the Russian.
So with these stats, there was no chance that Serena would be able to defend her 2012 title. The results 6-4, 6-4 amply show meek Sharapova being played by aging - yet shrewd and experienced Serena who dismantled the Russian in just one hour and 46 minutes.
Although, Sharapova had promised to "try something different" after failing to beat Williams in their last 12 matches, stretching back to 2004, she could not stand before Serena as always and crumbled like a pack of cards.
