Serena Williams beats Defending Champion Sharapova to win her Second French Open Title

Serena beats defending champion Sharapova to win her her second French Open title in eleven years [Photo]

It did not come as surprise to me when I heard the news of Serena beating Sharapova in the French Open ladies singles final Saturday today - this being her second French Open title in eleven years.

As I wrote in my yesterday's post, Sharapova is under the 'Serena Spell' - which makes her form whither away no sooner does she face the American. Serena and Sharapova have met 15 times in their career since they first met at Miami in 2004 - and Serena has a huge winning edge of 13-2 over the Russian.

So with these stats, there was no chance that Serena would be able to defend her 2012 title. The results 6-4, 6-4 amply show meek Sharapova being played by aging - yet shrewd and experienced Serena who dismantled the Russian in just one hour and 46 minutes.

Although, Sharapova had promised to "try something different" after failing to beat Williams in their last 12 matches, stretching back to 2004, she could not stand before Serena as always and crumbled like a pack of cards.

Cycling: Paris to Nice [Second Stage] Live Streaming Links

Paris to Nice cycling is annual event since almost a decade now. It is an eight-days event that passes through some of the beautiful countryside in Europe. The race is also known as the Race to the Sun. Why it is called, can be anybody's guess.

The participants will cover a total distance of 1252.8 km over 8 stages and in 8 grueling days. The race has since started on 4 March in Dampierre-en-Yvelines and will end on 11 March in Nice.

The weather is always unpredictable during this race. While weather at the start may be sketchy, it is often experienced that the race never finished under a sunny sky in Nice.

In the first stage, Great Britain's Bradley Wiggins finished second in stage one of Paris-Nice as the Team Sky rider completed the 9.4-kilometre time-trial from Dampierre-en-Yvelines to Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse one second behind Sweden's Gustav Larsson on Sunday, 4 March.

The Stage-2 of the race planned on 5th March would be from Mantes-la-Jolie to Orléans, stretched over a distance of 185.5 km (115.3 miles).

The live coverage of the Stage -2 will start by 14:00 GMT.
