Serena Williams beats Defending Champion Sharapova to win her Second French Open Title

Serena beats defending champion Sharapova to win her her second French Open title in eleven years [Photo]

It did not come as surprise to me when I heard the news of Serena beating Sharapova in the French Open ladies singles final Saturday today - this being her second French Open title in eleven years.

As I wrote in my yesterday's post, Sharapova is under the 'Serena Spell' - which makes her form whither away no sooner does she face the American. Serena and Sharapova have met 15 times in their career since they first met at Miami in 2004 - and Serena has a huge winning edge of 13-2 over the Russian.

So with these stats, there was no chance that Serena would be able to defend her 2012 title. The results 6-4, 6-4 amply show meek Sharapova being played by aging - yet shrewd and experienced Serena who dismantled the Russian in just one hour and 46 minutes.

Although, Sharapova had promised to "try something different" after failing to beat Williams in their last 12 matches, stretching back to 2004, she could not stand before Serena as always and crumbled like a pack of cards.

Djokovic vs Rosol - Watch Free Live Streaming | Miami Masters 2nd Round - 23 March

World no. 1 and the defending champion Serbian Novak Djokovic plays his second round match against 64th ranked Czech Lukas Rosol in the Sony Open Tennis Miami Saturday morning.

In the absence of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, the Miami Masters this year will look un-competitive and will pave way for Djokovic to easily defend his title for the fourth time (third time in a row).

Like Djokovic, Serena Williams Williams is also in a run to make history to win the Miami Masters title for the record sixth time. She already shares 5 time wins with Stefi Graff.

Novak Djokovic is looking to bounce back at the ATP Miami Masters after his 22-match win streak was ended last week at Indian Wells.

As for Djokovic-Rosol match, it may be added that it was Rosol who stunned Nadal at Wimbledon last year. Would he be able to dare Djokovic too?

Nadal vs Del Potro: Indian Wells Final | Watch Free Live Streaming - 17 March

Sunday tonight is the two finals' night at Indian Wells as both women single and men single finals are being played one after the other.

In the first final, world no.3 Russian Maria Sharapova takes on 10th ranked Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark.

In the men's singles event, world no. 7 Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro who knocked out top-ranked Novak Djokovic 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Open on Saturday, plays the Indian Wells final against world no.5 Spaniard Rafael Nadal Sunday tonight.

Thus Djokovic missed the chance to meet Rafa in the final as was expected after Nadal ousted Federer. The shock defeat brought Djokovic's 22-match winning run to an end. It was Djokovic's first defeat on tour since he lost to Sam Querrey at the Paris Masters in October.

Like Potro, Nadal also stunned the defending champion and world no.2 Roger Federer in the quarters and overtook the 17 times Grand Slam winners to join the race to the finals.

Del Potro who also knocked out Britain's Andy Murray 6-7(5) 6-3 6-1 in the quarters makes the final tonight very interesting to watch as his opponent Nadal too badly needs to win a major tennis event since Wimbledon last year.

The match today is scheduled for Sunday, 17 March at 21:00 GMT

Federer vs Nadal: Free Live Streaming | Indian Wells Quarter Finals - 15 March

Well as expected, world no.5 left handed Rafael Nadal meets defending champion world no.2 Swiss Roger Federer in the quarter final of Indian Wells Master tennis tournament on night 14-15 March tonight.

It will be their first meeting for 12 months, since Federer beat Nadal in straight sets in the semi-finals in Indian Wells.

Nadal who is making his presence felt after recovering from his knee injury, beat Latvian Ernests Gulbis  4-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory in the fourth round at the BNP Paribas Open on Wednesday night. Losing first set was a bad, but finally the Spaniard regained control and won the next two sets.

As for Federer, he advanced to the quarters beating his fellow countryman Stanislas Wawrinka 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-5 in two hours and 20 minutes. Like Nadal, Federer too survived a close call by Wawrinka, which he duly acknowledged after the match.

"Today it was extremely close again. Okay, I should [have] maybe closed it out in the second set, but he did well to stay in it," Federer said. "At the end, I don't know what got me through. Maybe it's the experience or maybe I was a bit more calm in those moments. I'm not sure. Today I think I was a little lucky to come through it in the end."

So let us watch the blockbuster quarterfinal between old rivals and world nos. 2 and 5 live tonight and see whether Nadal can show his come back fitness or the 31 years old defending champion overtakes him and continues his move forward to defend his title.

ATP Indian Wells: Nadal vs Harrison | Watch Live Free Streaming - 10 March

So it is Indian Wells - the hard courts where Nadal steps on after missing major tennis since Wimbledon to test his knee away from his favourite clay.

Nadal plays his first match of ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event against Ryan Harrison and is quite optimistic about his form and fitness.

“I feel very good. I've practiced two times here,” said Nadal. “But seriously, I understand my situation after seven months. I think it’s not the right moment to talk about the knee. I am here to try my best and that’s what I’m going to try. We’ll see how the knee responds on hard. The results on clay were positive, especially because the knee was feeling better and better every week, especially last week. Now I’m going to try here.”

Nadal who has slipped to fifth notch on the world ranking will be taking on 73rd ranked American Ryan Harrison, whom he has not played before.

Nadal has played all his previous ten matches on clay, losing only one at Vina del Mar (CHI), while Harrison has played all his matches on hard/i_Hard courts but has lost five of the ten matches. Ryan moves to the second round beating G. Soeda 6-0 4-6 6-3 in the first round.

It may be added that Nadal has been drawn in the same quarter as defending titlist Roger Federer.

Watch Live Streaming: Roger Federer vs Milos Raonic at Indian Wells Wednesday 14 March

There is lot of sports these days around the world. Besides Asia Cup Cricket being played in Dacca, and lots of football, there is tennis - The Indian Wells or the BNP Paribas Open has entered into the quarter finals stage and shortlisting to top has started.

Federer vs Milos Raonic
The match in the very early hours of Wednesday morning, is being tipped as the toughest match of the ongoing Indian Wells, wherein Federer faces a young but very powerful Canadian Raonic, who is all set to take on stars like Federer.

Although Federer did not have much difficulty if taming Kudla Sunday night 6-4, 6-1, many believe that Milos Raonic is no Kudla and may entrench aging Federer to provide good enetrtainment to the fans on both sides of the net.

Even Federer has acknowledged Raonic's powerful serves and on his fitness syas, "Against a guy like this you’re obviously going to try to make it as athletic as possible." Which means that Raonic is in his best form, both physically and mentllay to give a tough ime to Federer.

Raonic too is eager to meet Federer, whom he missed meeting last year. For Raonic, this is a big day - palying against a sixteen times grand slammer and already three times Indian Wells winner in three straight years from 2004-2006.

The slow speed of the court may help Federer to control the speedy balls from raonic and have enough time to respond. On the other hand, Raonic due to his athletic physique may tire out Federer to gain time and win points.

The match will be played at Stadium 1, a big honour for Raonic for palying on such a prestigeous court perhaps for the first time in his life, at 02:00 GMT.

Watch Live: Nadal vs Granollers in the Indian Wells Tuesday Night

The Indian Wells are getting hotter as the tournament progresses. While Roger Federer clashes Milos Raonic later at nigh, it is Nadal vs fellow Spaniard Marcel Granollers during third-round action on Tuesday night.

Nadal vs Granollers
While Nadal has met many new players, it would be the honour of Granollers for not only comabting his fellow countryman, but also once the number one and still exhubrant Rafeal Nadal.

Granollers is presently ranked at number 26th and has been sailing through with a bye in the first rouns and a combating  6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory over Tommy Haas.

For Nadal Indian Wells is very important, specially after being ousted from the Australian Open at the hands of Novak Djokovic. He has to sail through by his aggressive game and not only win over Granollers tonight, but also all other encounters to making it to the finals. But so are Federer and Djokovic aiming at. So it is survival of fittest, aggressor, determined and the resilient to move on.

Nadal is two time Indian Wells champion and is surely expected a straight victory over Granollers tonight.

The match between the two commences 23:30 GMT.

Free Live Streaming: Djokovic vs Anderson 2012 BNP Paribas Open 12 March

Like all the super stars, the world number one Novak Djokovic is also making inroads into the Indian Wells Tennis. Though heavily dejected at his ouster from the Dubai Duty Free title by Andy Murray just a week ago, Djokovic did not show any signs of nervousness when playing Kazak Andrey Golubev 6-3, 6-2 in the Indian Wells tennis.

Kevin Anderson has met Djokovic four times before with Djokovic winning 3-1
Now he is all set to meet  World No. 30 and South Africa's highest ranking tennis player Kevin Anderson for a place in the pre-quarterfinal of the 2012 BNP Paribas Open. Anderson has advanced through a walkover after German Philipp Kohlschreiber fell ill.

Djokovic may not find his match with Anderson an easy one since Anderson's has a probing serve that Djokovic had found difficult to understand and counter in their previous encounters.

It may be added that  Djokovic  is defending the Masters 1000 title in the Californian desert, one of 10 he claimed in a runaway 2011 campaign. In 2011, he had five ATP Masters titles and three Grand Slams to his credit. But losing in Dubai very recently shows he is not like his previous year's form and will have to fight out hard in the Indian Wells.

The match between  Djokovic and Anderson commences at 19:30 GMT.

Federer and Nadal move on in the Indian Wells

It was a easy day for the World Number 3 Roger Federer when he defeated wild card Denis Kudla 6-4, 6-1 in a second round night match of the on going Indian wells or the BNP Paribas Open 2012 Tennis on centre court. Roger Federer vs. Denis Kudla - Indian Wells 2012 [Links for Free Live Streaming]

The Indian Wells has gotten going and the star studded tennis attractions has started to exhibit the bigger tennis giants now on the courts.

Of one such attraction Sunday is a duel between the World Number 3 Roger Federer and American Denis Kudla. Federer of course is the crushing favourite in this match and his opening of the Indian Wells Sunday with a clash with Kudla is likely to mark has move forward into the championship.

For Federer, year 2012 has been a good starter. He has already won two championships at Rotterdam and Dubai. Thus his entry into the Indian Wells or BNP Paribas Open on Sunday will be a headline second-round match, which he is most likely to win. It may be added that Roger Federer is paving his way for the fourth Masters 1000 Indian Wells title, having won the title three times before.

As for his opponent, he ranks much lower, i.e. 185th, who will be attempting to record his sixth tour-level victory, if at all he can. For 19-year old Kudla, facing experienced Federer, who despite his age, has proved all speculations and predictions against him wrong - so far, will be a real challenge. This is the first encounter of Federer and Kudla.

The match will be played at 02:00 GMT, 12 March 2012.
