Team GB fail to pick up a medal on the opening day

It was just one of a number of disapointments suffered by Team GB on a day when none of their medal hopefuls were able to secure a place on the podium.

As for tennis, it looked as if Murray brothers  were not playing for gold, but defeat still hurt for Andy and Jamie Murray as they lost on the grass of Wimbledon in the first round of the Olympic men's doubles.

In a very tight battle with Austria's Jurgen Melzer and Alexander Peya they went down 5-7, 7-6 (8/6), 7-5 after two hours and 23 minutes.

And then, much touted Mark Cavendish failed to challenge in the men's cycling road race and - along with teammates Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, David Millar and Ian Stannard - finished way out of contention.

Watch Live Great Britain vs Senegal Free Streaming | London Olympics - 26 July 2012

After mowing down Kiwis 1-0 in the Women Soccer, the men's team GB braces itself against Senegal its the series of group matches of Group A Thursday evening today at Old Trafford, Manchester, England.
For the men's football event, team GB is hot favourite, which is looking towards a medal this time. Great Britain has won three golds in soccer - which is a record so far - but that was almost a century ago in the Olympics of 1900, 1908 and 1912. This means they won their last gold a century ago and it would be shame if the let past a century in pursuit of a gold medal for the fourth time.

As for Senegal, it is their first Olympic appearance this year, so nothing conclusive can be said about their prformance. But obviously thier maiden appearance places them at a lower shade than the team GB.

The match is scheduled for Thursday, 26 July 2012 at 19:00 GMT at Old Trafford, Manchester, England.
