Wimbledon day-2: Nadal and Tsonga, Kvitova, Serena and Azarenka move to Second Round

Roland Garros seven times champion and world no.2 Spaniard Rafael Nadal beats Bellucci 7-6 6-2 6-3 to move to the second round of Wimbledon Tuesday evening today.

After a long spell of red and blue clay, Nadal found it difficult to adjust to the green grass at Halle, where he lost to P. Kohlschreiber 6-3 6-4.


And it seemed that he may find it difficult at Wimbledon too to adjust to the green grass - which actually he did as the Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci lead 4-0 in the first set beating back Rafa. But finally Nadal made it 4-4 and then on to win the first set 7-6 and later the match 7-6 6-2 6-3.

French Jo-Wilfried Tsonga beat australian Lleyton Hewitt 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

In the women singles, Defending champion Czech Petra Kvitova defeated Uzbekistan's Akgul Amanmuradova 6-4, 6-4 to move on to defend her title.


6th ranked American Serena Williams defeated Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 6-2, 6-4 and avided her ouster unlike her sister Venus who crashed out in the first round Monday.

Azarenka beat Folconi in the Wimbledon first round 
Former world no.1 and now no.2 Azarenka beat 78th ranked American Folconi 6-1, 6-4.
