After the T20I world cup, New Zealand come to Sri Lanka once again to play T20I - 20 overs match with the Islanders Tuesday today at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Although all is set for the match, but there is a likelihood of cyclone entering the area, which may seriously affect the match.
The match is of significant importance to Sri Lanka as after the stepping down of Sri Lankan captain Jayawardene after their crucial loss in the T20I world cup final against the West Indies. Now Mathews takes over the Islanders' squad, who already has a heavy responsibility as a finisher in the batting order.
Sri Lanka last met New Zealand at the same venue during the World Cup T20I, when the match was decided in a one-over eliminator. New Zealand also tied with eventual champions West Indies, also at Pallekele.
