World 200m champion Brown provisionally suspended after a positive test for banned substance

World 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown of Jamaica has been provisionally suspended after a positive test for a banned substance, reports BBC.

Campbell-Brown, 31, tested positive on 4 May for a banned diuretic. She is suspended pending her "B sample" result, the Jamaican Athletics Administrative Association said, and faces a two-year ban from athletics.

The banned diuretic for which she tested positive at the Jamaica Invitational meet is considered by the World Anti-Doping Agency to be a masking agent.

Campbell-Brown won 200m and 4x100m relay golds at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and retained her 200m title in Beijing four years later. She has won 16 medals for her country in world and Olympic meets and at London 2012 took bronze in the 100m and was a member of Jamaica's silver medal-winning sprint relay team.

Golden girl athlete Donna Hartley dies at 58

Golden girl athlete Donna Hartley, the former 400 m runner has died at 58.

She was found dead by her husband of 26 years in a bikini lounging in garden at Sheffield home.

Her shoulder-length blonde hair and prowess on the track earned her the ‘golden girl’ tag during a glittering running career in which she won bronze in the 1980 Olympic Games. Hartley won bronze medal at Moscow Olympic Games and was champion body builder. She was awarded an MBE in 1979.

After retiring from athletics she became a champion body builder and won the ‘Miss Britain Physique’ title. She later ran a line dancing school in the city and had been working as a hotel leisure club manager when she died.

Team USA W beat 1985 record of 4x100 M Relay Race

The United States shattered a 27-year-old world record to win gold in the women's 4x100m relay at London 2012.

The team of Tianna Madison, Allyson Felix, Bianca Knight and Carmelita Jeter blazed round the track in 40.82 seconds, beating East Germany's record of 41.37, which had stood since 1985.

It may be added that The USA team had failed to reach the final at the Beijing Olympics. But after qualifying fastest for the 2012 final, they led from the start on a balmy night in east London.

Jamaica were second in a national record time of 41.41, with Ukraine third in 42.04 and Nigeria fourth.

Wallace Spearmon breaks Drake Relays 200m meet record

Wallace Spearmon broke the Drake Relays 200m meet record with a time of 20.02sec, and was delighted to better the mark set 15 years ago by athletics great Michael Johnson.

"I started looking at the clock a little early," Spearmon admitted on Saturday. "To be mentioned in the same sentence as (Johnson) is a great honor."

Spearmon's time was three-hundredths of a second better than the previous meet record set by Johnson in 1997.

Spearmon has already run under 20 seconds this season, clocking 19.95 in Arlington, Texas, last month.
