World 200m champion Brown provisionally suspended after a positive test for banned substance

World 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown of Jamaica has been provisionally suspended after a positive test for a banned substance, reports BBC.

Campbell-Brown, 31, tested positive on 4 May for a banned diuretic. She is suspended pending her "B sample" result, the Jamaican Athletics Administrative Association said, and faces a two-year ban from athletics.

The banned diuretic for which she tested positive at the Jamaica Invitational meet is considered by the World Anti-Doping Agency to be a masking agent.

Campbell-Brown won 200m and 4x100m relay golds at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and retained her 200m title in Beijing four years later. She has won 16 medals for her country in world and Olympic meets and at London 2012 took bronze in the 100m and was a member of Jamaica's silver medal-winning sprint relay team.

Misbah not to lead Pakistan squad in Galle Test against Sri Lanka

After Pakistan team was ruled to be three overs short of its target at the end of the match when time allowances were taken into consideration, its captain Misbah ul Haq has been suspended from leading his team in the first test match against the hosts Sril Lanka at Galle.

Pakistan's vice captain Muhammad Hafeez will now lead the Pakistan squad against the hosts in he first test that starts at Galle on Friday.

The ICC observed that this was a “serious over-rate offence” in limited-over cricket.

It may be recalled that Pakistan lost the five ODI series against Sri Lanka by 3-1, afer a sensational and last minute win by Sri Lanka Monday at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Five Indian players suspended from IPL cricket

The Indian Premier League Governing Council has recommended the suspension of 5 players allegedly caught on camera indulging in spot-fixing in a sting operation aired by a TV channel, sources say. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India president N Srinivasan will take a final decision. The five players are Amit Yadav, Mohnish Mishra, Abhinav Bali, TP Sudhindra and Shalabh Srivastava.

UEFA: Suspended Chelsea Captain Terry may lift Trophy

Suspended Chelsea captain John Terry would be allowed to lift the Champions League trophy if his side defeat Bayern Munich in the final on 19 May, UEFA has confirmed to BBC Sport.

Terry is banned after being sent off for violent conduct in the semi-final second leg against Barcelona.

UEFA's rules only prevent suspended players from sitting on the bench. The governing body also said it will not change its rules to let six other suspended players feature.

It means Terry will have to watch the final from the stands, along with Raul Meireles, Ramires and Branislav Ivanovic, all of whom are banned after being booked against Barcelona.
