Pakistan blind team captain 'poisoned' in India?

It may come as a big shock to everyone to know that Zeeshan Abbasi, the captain of Pakistan’s blind cricket team presently in India to play the T20 World Cup for the blind, was shifted to a hospital in critical condition after he drank acid from a bottle which was supposed to contain water.

Pakistan blind team captain Zeeshan served 'detergent' that could have been fatal

However, he was treated and released from the hospital, Express News reported Saturday.

The incident occured just a day after Abbasi led the team to its fourth consecutive win in the tournament, and that too against India. Pakistan beat India by eight wickets.

The Indian media, however, has alleged that the Pakistani captain consumed detergent water, not acid and accused Pakistani media of blowing the issue out of proportion.

Even it the bottle contained 'detergent,' it is hard to believe that a dtergent bottle will be placed on the breakfast table of the blind, who cannot see the contents of the bottle.

“The mineral water bottles were given to us everyday; the acid was in one of those bottles,” said the team manager.

The matter is under investigation.
