Sri Lanka beat India to lift its maiden T20 Cricket World Cup Trophy

It was great day today for Sri Lanka as it lifted its maiden T20 Cricket World Cup at Dacca this evening. Very many Congratulations !!

Winning the toss, the Islander chose to field - a wise decision by Malinga - who leading his team for the first time in the final. Coming to bat, the second time cup-aspirant India was restricted to mere 130 runs in 20 overs.  Except for Kohli, none of the Indian batsman could score handsomely to give a fighting target to the Islanders.

Sri Lanka dismantled four Indian wickets before ending the 20 overs game for India. Kohli scored 77 runs and was run out on the last ball of the match.

Coming to bat, Sri Lanka though lost their openers  but had the resilience and form to chase the paltry 131 target.  Sangakkara scored an unbeaten 52 runs and Sri Lanka reached the target with six wickets and 13 runs remaining. 

Sri Lanka’s - KC Sangakkara  was declared ad the Player of the match, while Kohli was declared Player of the series. Thus ended the action packed T20 Cricket World Cup at Dacca, Bangladesh with India returning home for not having made the history to be the first team to win the cup twice.

Now all eyes are set on the WrestleMania XXX, the second big even of the day and the greatest show on the earth that starts at 23:00 GMT. Don't miss to watch it.

The last two sixes of Shahid Afridi against India [video]

Pakistan beat Indian by one wicket in their first encounter in the 6th match of the on going Asia Cup cricket at Dhaka Bangladesh. 

The match had a hair raising finish as in the last over, with no wickets to spare Pakistan needed nine runs to win the match. 

It was here that Pakistan's Shahid Afridi, famous for his fiery shots came to the rescue of Pakistan. He had already shot a six earlier. But in the last over, his two mighty sixes stunned the Indian team and won victory for Pakistan.

It was repetition of the Sharjha Cup many years back when Pakistan needed four runs off the last ball against India - and Javed Miandad hit a unbelievable six to win the match for Pakistan.

Afridi’s sixes bring victory for Pakistan over India in the 6th Match of Asia Cup Cricket

Those who watched the cricket match between India and Pakistan live from Mirpur – Dhaka, Bangladesh would remember it for a long time to come.

The hair-raising finish of the match reminded many of the Sharjah Cup final match when there was one ball remaining and four runs to make for Pakistan to win – and it was a mighty six from Javed Miandad that won the match for Pakistan and Javed Miandad is till remembered for winning the match for Pakistan.

Winning the toss, Pakistan invited India to bat. India in their stipulated 50 overs scored 245 at the loss of eight wickets and gave a target of 246 for Pakistan to win.  India’s Sharma,  Rayudu and Jadeja scored half centuries while Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal bagged three wickets for 40. Talha who made a maiden début in the ODIs for Pakistan took two wickets and so did Hafeez.

Coming to bat, Pakistan’s Sharjeel and Shehzad opened confidently but at 71 Sharjeel was gone for 25. Thereafter Misbah was run out for one and Maqsood was the 6^th man to pack up for 38. At this stage Pakistan was at a precarious situation as one after the other Pakistan’s wickets kept falling, leaving Afridi and Junaid on the crease with no more wickets in hand.  Ajmal was the last man out when the total was 236 and Pakistan still needed 10 more runs to win the match.

And it was here that Shahid Afridi came to the rescue of his team  and hit a six and then Pakistan needed three more runs and three balls remaining. It was here that Afridi scored a mighty six off Aswin’s ball and won the match for Pakistan – just like Miandad did.  The entire Pakistan team ran into the ground and hugged Afridi for his superb 38 off 18 balls (not out), which included three sixes.

Hafeez declared man of the match for his impressive 75 runs and two wickets.

Commenting on his performance, Afridi said:

Really under pressure, didn't perform well. Hit some bad shots. "Expectations were high. We all know how importat this game was and I am glad I did it. The captain told me to take my time and I did that. Whenever we play against India it's a great occasion and I'm very happy. Gul was talking a lot with me, we wanted singles as well and we needed a hit as well. When we arrived here, our goal was to win this competition. Very important for my country and team and I want to thank Bangladeshi crowd for supporting us"

Pakistan now plays Bangladesh on Tuesday.

Pakistan Blind Cricket Team beat India to win T20 matches Series

It was  great day today at Faisalabad, Pakistan when the Blind Cricket Team of Pakistan beat visiting Indian team by 9 wickets to win the two-matches Inter-loop Pakistan-India Blind Cricket T20 Series 2-0.

AT Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, Pakistan, Indian team won the toss and elected to bat. In the stipulated 20 overs, the Indian team scored 208 runs. Indian captain Patel scored 76 runs.

Coming to bat, the Pakistan team played an aggressive game and Muhammad Zahid scored an impressive century (103 runs). And by 17th overs Pakistan had achieved the target set by the visitors and won the match and the series.

Earlier Pakistan beat the Indian team for the loss of three wickets in 15.3 overs at Lahore Gymkhana cricket ground.

South Africa draws first test against India - thanks to South Africans' slow and safe strategy

While many thought that South Africa will finally win over the visiting Indians in the first test match on the tricky Wanderers pitch,  Johannesburg  the match ended in a draw.

The slow running in the end of the match was perhaps part of the South Africans' tactics. However, the home crowd did not like the slow paced game as loud boos echoed around the ground for every refused run. South Africa had 16 to get off the last three overs and had shut shop. The fans were asking why.

After the match, South Africa's captain supported Vernon Philander and Dale Steyn's decision to play it safe, in the face of criticism from the crowd and former players - but he was not convincing  Nor was Graeme Smith who tried to explain that the decision was made by the two batsmen at the crease and was not a team order. 

One critic has been quoted as saying:
"I couldn't believe SA shut up shop either, an appalling end to a test match. More of a flop than a thriller. Australia will be ruthless against SA if they play with this roll over mindset. India were patient and AB and Faf were very good but SA should have tried to win the game. 16 off 20 is hardly a tall order."

This was the third-closest draw in Tests in terms of runs remaining. There have been two instances of teams drawing a Test with just one run remaining, which are the closest of draws in Tests. England drew against Zimbabwe with one remaining in Bulawayo in 1996 and India against West Indies in Mumbai in 2011. The 136 overs that South Africa played in their fourth innings was the seventh-highest ever played in the fourth innings of a Test in South Africa and the highest South Africa have played at home since the 144 overs against New Zealand in Port Elizabeth in 1962. This was also the fourth-highest number of overs South Africa have played in the fourth innings to draw a Test.

South Africa beat India yet again to win ODI series

The century makers: De Kock 106 and Hasim Amla 100

Having thrashed visiting Indian team by 141 runs in the first ODI, the hosts South Africa did not hesitate to seal their victory over the ongoing ODIs by beating India yet again by 134 runs at Dublin on Sunday.

Indians, ho have been playing for long comfortably on their home grounds, got seriosuly exposed when they came to South Africa to play the Africans.

South Africa, batting first, gave a tall chase target of 281 to the Indians with centuries by De Kock 106 and Hasim Amla 100. Shami took 3-48 for India.

A drizzle began to drip in the 16th over and South Africa brought on JP Duminy to speed things up and get to 20 overs. The rain grew heavier in the 19th over and Vernon Philander was racing back to his mark to complete it. With the fifth ball, he had Dhoni push at one just outside off, de Kock dived to his right and took the catch one-handed to end the Indian challenge.

However, coming to bat, the Indians were off guard right from the outset and were all out for 146. By 34 runs, four Indian wickets had fallen. Raina was the only Indian batsman who score 36 - while the rest were all out below 20, with Jadeja's 26. Tsotsobe 4-25 and Steyn 3-17 did not let the Indians to go beyond 146 and the hosts won the match by by 134 runs.

Q de Kock (South Africa) was declared as player of the match.

Indian now plays the 3rd ODI against South Africa at Centurion on Dec 11, 2013.

South Africa thrash India to wn first ODI by by 141 runs

Q de Kock celebrates his second ODI century

The Pink-Floyds beat the hell out of the visiting Indian cricket team when they thrashed the visitors and won the first ODI by 141 runs at Johannesburg.

India, winning the toss, chose to field and must have regretted the decision  South Africa's Q de Kock smashed 135, his second ODI century, followed by impressive scoring by AB de Villiers (77) and Hashim Amla (65). At the end of the play, South Africa were 358 for four with Duminy (59) and Miller (7) still on the crease. From Indian camp, Shami took 3/68.

Coming to bat, India was in trouble as Steyn and McLaren struck the visitors with full fury and took three wickets each. Except for captain Dhoni who scored 65, none could gobeyond 30 except Kohli who dared 31. India were all out for mere 217 - losing the match by 141 runs.

Q de Kock (South Africa) was declared Player of the match for his impressive century.

The 2nd ODI between South Africa and India will be played at Durban on December 8.

Pakistani Girls to participate in Kabaddi World Cup in India

Pakistani girls travel to India to participate in the 2013 Kabaddi World Cup - it is the first time ever that Pakistan fielded an international women's team in the sport.

It has traditionally been seen as a macho sport but now Pakistan is sending a women's team to the November 30-December 14, 2013 World Cup in India.

Kabaddi is hugely popular in the Punjab provinces of India and Pakistan, where it originates, and is played in countries around the world with South Asian populations. It is a tag-wrestling sport involves players trying to tag an opponent before making it back to their half of the field.

For 24-year-old Sayeda Fareeda Khanum, who comes from a conservative, religious family where she fought for years to be allowed to compete in sports, it is a dream come true.

“I have been sports crazy since childhood and was selected for national events in various sports many times, but I was never allowed by my family to attend a training camp outside college or university,” she said.

Pakistan beat India to march into IBSF World Team Snooker Championship Semis

Pakistan snooker team beat India 4-1 at Carlow, Ireland to move into the semi finals of IBSF World Team Snooker Championship in the round robin stage.

As the last-16 knock-out phase began today, the Pakistani duo of Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Sajjad first defeated Poland in the pre-quarter final, and then pushed India’s Manan Chandra and Brijesh Damani out of the tournament with an emphatic 3-0 pounding in the quarter final.

India bowler Sreesanth charged over cricket spot-fixing

The menace of match fixing or spot fixing is really plaguing the once gentleman's game of cricket. Every now and then news of such misdeeds surface leaving a rather bad taste- specially when it involves seasoned and ace cricketers.

Now in a sensational cricket scandal  Indian cricketer S Sreesanth has been charged with 38 other people over a spot-fixing scandal that has rocked the Indian Premier League. They were arrested in May along with scores of bookmakers.

However, Sreesanth and team-mates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan deny the charges.

Prosecutors brought charges of criminal conspiracy and cheating against Sreesanth, two of his Rajasthan Royals team-mates, and other non-cricketers.

Pakistan women beat India to win maiden BFAME bridge crown

Pakistan women’s team created history on Tuesday night when they won their first-ever title in 17th Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle East (BFAME) by beating favorites India 94-53 International Match Points (IMPs) in the final in Ahmedabad on 12 June.

Rubina Agha’s Pakistan team maintained their sterling show by whipping experienced India team in 17th edition of the championship and thus qualified for Venice Cup to be held in Bali (Indonesia) in September, according to details made available by Mind Sports Association of Pakistan on Wednesday. 

It was history making performance as Pakistan women team was consisted of three generations - Grand mother Qudsia Doosa, daughter Rubina Hai and grand daughter Fatima Raza. Other members of the team included Roshan Ara Bokhari and Zeenat Azwer. They beat Indian squad comprising Hema Deora, Marianne, Rita, Bharati, Tutu and Asha.

Pakistan team will be returning to Karachi on Thursday afternoon after taking part in the championship.

India beat West Indies in 6th ODI of ICC Champions Trophy by 8 wickets

India's Dhawan scores a ton to lead his side to semis finals

India today beat West Indies  by 8 wickets with 65 balls remaining in the 6th ODI of the on going ICC Champions Trophy cricket at  Kennington Oval, London minutes from now.

India, winning the toss, chose to field and put the est Indians to bat first. West Indians were 233 for nine in 50 overs. Charles scored 60 and Sammy was not out at 56. Jadeja was the most cruel bowler of the day who bagged six wickets for 36 runs. Charles was one of his victims. 

Coming to bat Dhawan scored an impressive century and remained not out for 102. Kumar and Karthik scored 52 and 51 respectively. India made 236. Both wickets were taken by Narine for 49.

With the win today, India reach the Champions Trophy semi-finals and eliminate Pakistan.
