T20 World Cup for Blind: Pakistan thrash India by 8 wickets


Pakistan blind cricket team thrashed Indian team by eight wickets in Twenty-20 World Cup Cricket Tournament for the blind at Bangalore, Indian metropolitan, on Friday today.


India set a huge target of 250 for Pakistan in 20 overs which the green shirts chased handsomely in 19 overs with the loss of just 2 wickets.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Akram and Mohammad Ashfaq played plentiful innings of 92 and 90 for the team, winning the game easily and earning a place in semi final.

In other matches Australia met Bangladesh‚ West Indies played against Sri Lanka while England faced Nepal at the same venue.

It appears as if Pakistan sports is having a fancy for the past few days with Mohammad Asif winning the Snooker Championship and now Pakistan blinds beating India at their home.

Get ready for ICC T20I Championship 2012

The ICC T20I championship is about to being in Sri Lanka with all 12 internationally recognized T20I teams from around the world.  This will be the fourth ICC T20I championship. England has won the 2010 and 2011 championships, while South Africa won the 2011 championship.

Presently, England tops the table position followed very closely with a margin of one point by South Africa. Australia, after its recent defeat at the hands of Pakistan 2-1 payed at Dubai has dropped down to 9th position just above Ireland and Zimbabwe.  Afghanistan is playing for the first time.

All 12 teams, that includes 10 test teams and two qualifiers (Afghanistan and Ireland) are divided into four Groups as under:

Group A
Afghanistan
England
India

Group B
Australia
Ireland
West Indies

Group C
South Africa
Sri Lanka
Zimbabwe

Group D
Bangladesh
New Zealand
Pakistan

The 20 overs action packed, high hitting and full of excitement championship will commence with the Group matches from 18-25 September. The first match will be played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota Sri Lanka with its match between Sri Lanka (World no.3) and Zimbabwe (World no. 11).

The inter group matches will get underway from 26 September to 2 October. Thereafter semi finals will be held on 4-5 October with final being played on Sunday, 7 October 2012 at the R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

Indian hockey qualifies for Olympics after eight years

Four years is a long time for a wound to fester and India put balm on it with an 8-1 thrashing of France on Sunday, thereby sealing a berth at the London Olympics. 

Sandeep Singh could hardly have chosen a better occasion to showcase his breathtaking drag-flicking prowess as he pumped in five unstoppable bullets into the French cage, finishing the tournament with 16 goals in six games. 

Spurred on by a near-capacity crowd which made ear-splitting noise from well before the match, the hosts took a while to get into their stride, but once they did there was only going to be one result – a win for India.

Africa Cup of Nations: Ghana and Mali reach the semis



Tournament favourite Ghana advanced to the African Cup of Nations semifinals by beating Tunisia 2-1 on Sunday following goalkeeper Aymen Mathlouthi’s dreadful mistake in extra time.

Ghana will battle Zambia in Bata on Wednesday to determine who plays in the final against the winners of the other semi-final between the Ivory Coast and Mali, who overcame co-host Gabon 5-4 on penalties in the day's other quarter-final.

Super 12 from next year

THE Super League will be reduced to 12 teams and the Malaysia Cup expanded to 24 sides as the FA of Malaysia (FAM) moved to restructure the domestic competitions  from 2013 to 2016.   

In stating that fewer teams in the top-flight will lead to more competitive and quality matches, FAM competitions committee chairman Datuk Hamidin Amin said the move is necessary to enable Malaysian football to continue its upward swing following the recent successes of various national teams.



Singapore LionsXIII are  excluded from the relegation process -- they will remain in the Super League irrespective of their final position -- under the terms of the agreements between the FAs of Malaysia and Singapore which also see Young Tigers A competing in the S-League.
