Former Wimbledon champion Sixth seeded Petra Kvitova, the Czech tennis player, beat fifth seeded Sara Errani from Italy 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 to win the Dubai Tennis Championship Sunday yesterday.

It was Petra Kvitova first WTA Tour title of the year and her biggest success in 15 months. The win also marked Kvitova's 10th WTA Tour title and first since August 2012, when she defeated Maria Kirilenko in the New Haven final.

It may be added that Kvitova has earlier recorded straight-sets victories over Errani in all three meetings between the duo last year and despite her troubles in the second set, always appeared the more likely to win in the United Arab Emirates.

Ivanovic first player to reach Semis of Indian Wells

Former champion Ana Ivanovic became the first player to reach the semi-finals of the Indian Wells WTA tournament with a 6-3 6-4 upset over ailing seventh seed Marion Bartoli on Thursday.

The 15th-seeded Serb, who had ousted defending champion Caroline Wozniacki in the previous round, seized control with her powerful serving and strong baseline game after being broken in the first game of the match.

She broke the Frenchwoman, who was runner-up last year, three times before wrapping up the win in one hour 17 minutes when her opponent pushed a forehand service return wide.

Federer beats Murray to win Dubai Duty Free Tennis Trophy

Federer was all smiles Saturday when he dismantled Murray in straight sets in the final of the Dubai Duty Free tennis Championship 2012. He beat Andy Murray 7-5, 6-4.

Federer dismantles Murray in straight sets to wear the Dubai crown for the fifth time
Murray was certainly not himself as he was Friday when out playing world No 1 Novak Djokovic. He was rather too easy for Federer who in just about 90 minutes dashed to lift the Dubai Duty Free Trophy for the fifth time. Murray who overawed the World Number 1 in the semis with his powerful serves, looked sheepish in the final. In fact his powerful serves did not click at all and his first serve percentage dropped below 50%. And even in the second serve, his rate of success was just about 56%. If you play a world class tournament with such serves, how can you think of winning?

For Federer it was a great day. At least he did not have to be seen emotional on the TV screens, had he lost to Murray. Saturday's win over Murray is Federer's seventh in the previous fifteen encounters between the Swiss and the Scot.
"A tight opening set saw the first two games go to deuce as the respective numbers three and four in the world tested each other's games for the first time since they last met in the round robin stages of the ATP World Tour finals in 2010. Murray had his chance to break at 15-40 in the sixth game but two unforced errors on the backhand side saw one of his few opportunities on the night disappear," reports Yahoo Sport.
So that is it then - Federer reins Dubai this year. And both Djokovic and Murray leave Dubai with lot of regrets for slipping their wins by mistakes that could have been controlled.

Speculators were talking of upset in Friday's semis - and it really did come. While many thought that Murray with injured knee may not be able to give tough time to the defending champion and the World Number 1 Djokovic, they got a shock of their lives - Djokovic lost the semi in straight sets 6-2, 7-5 in the semi final of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship 2012 played in Dubai Friday. Today's defeat thus ends Djokovic's 10-match winning streak, the latest being the Australian Open title.

It may be interesting to note that Murray earlier on lost seven of the last 11 matches against Djokovic. This win of today definitely raises Murray's morale and a boosting power to enter the court on the final day of the championship.

In the other second semi final, Federer overpowered Potro, as was expected and no one talked of an upset here. Although unexpectedly Potro gave a very rough time to Federer before losing to him 7-6 (5), 7-6 (6). Del Potro lost four set-points in the second-set tiebreaker at 6-2, with Federer winning the last six points. Federer moves into the final without dropping a single serve this week.

Now it is Murray vs Federer in the final of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship that gets played on Sunday. The going has gone tougher and would provide the fans on both side a nerve breaking final day as it would be Murray's utmost to dismantle Federer, who has already won the Dubai Tennis four times before.

While many would be forecasting the outcome, but for me it will be an interesting match. One enjoys outcomes of upsets as it happened on Friday. So let us sit down and watch the final on Saturday that is scheduled to start at 15:00 GMT at Dubai. Those who are already in Dubai would love the match live, but for the rest of us, big TV screens will allow us to enjoy the match between world number 2 Federer and world number 4 Murray.

And those away from TV, live streaming on computers are the best alternative.

I am sharing the free live streaming links for the Final of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship to be played on Saturday, 3 March at Dubai at 15:00 GMT below:

Federer vs Potro: Dubai Tennis Semi Final [ Free Live Streaming Links ]

By the time the second semi final this Friday begins between Federer and Potro, the first semi would be preferably over and decided who marches into the final of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship 2012. Many are speculating for Djokovic to rein in Murray, who may have tough time playing the defending champion due to his ailing knee.

However, the outcome of the second semi final between Federer and Potro would make it more interesting for the final.

Semis: Federer vs Potro
In yesterday's quarterfinals, Roger Federer beat Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny, 6-3, 6-4, while Del Potro dismantled his French counterpart Tsonga 7-6, 6-2.

Federer has had a good start this year as he won his first title of the year in Rotterdam and it will be tough day today to play a duel with the Argentinian Juan Martin Del Potro. Although, Potro is suffering from a wrist injury, he was able to oust Tsonga almost with good cursing, except for the first set which he won 7-6. He is likely to give Federer a tough time and may even overpower him, if luck favours him.

In the last six months, Federer has met Del Potro three times and won on all three occasions as well as winning all 7 sets they have competed against one another. Federer and Potro played up to today 11 Games. Last time Federer and Potro played a Match within the ATP Tournament was the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament played on Indoor Hard Court on 19th February last month.

Well then, who marches from this semi to the final will show up later today, when the man between the two commences 1500 GMT.

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship is close to its end as today is the day of semis. Djokovic, Murray, Federer and Potro sailed into the semis after defeating their opponents in the quarterfinals yesterday.

Friday would decide who two qualify for the final. As for Djokovic it would be a tough day today as he would determined to defeat Murray to move into the final to defend his title. He defeated Janko Tipsarević 6-1, 7-6 (6) Thursday at the Dubai Aviation Club Tennis Centre. But winning the second set wasn't easy, as  Djokovic  also admits:
"It was a very tense second set.Towards the end, we both had chances and both got quite nervous and made some unforced errors."
 Murray vs Djokovic

As for Andy Murray, he may have difficult time today as he is suffering from knee injury. He felt it while playing the quarterfinal against Tomas Berdych, specially in the second set as is evident from the match score of 6-3 7-5. Murray agreed after the match that the paid did hinder him to an extent:
“It was a bit sore right before the tournament. I didn't feel it at all in the first couple of matches, and then right at the beginning of the second set I felt it. But it is not something that stops me sort of running around. I want to try and get rid of it, because there are a lot of big events coming up.”
The clash between the two today would be interesting to watch as Djokovic is seeking a fourth straight Dubai title.

Federer meets Youzhny in Dubai Tennis Championship 2012 [ Free Live Streaming ]

It is a busy day today at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship 2012 at Dubai - it the day of quarterfinals. We have already written about the quarter final between Davis Cup teammates Novak Djokovic vs Janko Tipsarevic, which is going to be quite interesting since both know each other well - and what is more: Tipsarevic has beaten his fellow countryman Djokovic in the  round-robin stages of the ATP World Tour Finals in London in November 2011.

Then in another quarterfinal,  Juan Martin Del Potro and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga are facing each other.

But for now, let us concentrate on the quarterfinal between Roger Federer and Mikhail Youzhny, which is being played at 13:00 GMT.  For Federer, playing tennis is always emotional and any upset can hurt him out-rightly and visibly too. Federer last met Mikhail Youzhny in 2007 when he easily beat him. But that was five years ago. Just for a flashback, watch the highlights of the Dubai ATP Final 2007 between Federer and Youzhny:

For Federer, the courts of Dubai will definitely favour as these are quicker this time and would allow Federer hitting smashes and moving the balls across the net with greater speed and force.

The Russian is good too, something that Federer also acknowledges. Youzhny has had good tennis in Dubai previously and has even made to the final some time back.

Who is going to win? Did I hear Federer? Let us wait and watch today Federer meeting Youzhny and see how 'old pals' meet, greet and play each other.

Another Interesting Quarterfinal Thursday in Dubai: Potro vs Tsonga [ Watch Live Online ]

While Djokovic and Tipsarevic clash in their quarterfinal duel of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship 2012, another interesting quarterfinal between Juan Martin Del Potro and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is also being played at 16: 30 GMT at Dubai.

Juan Martin Del Potro has been World Number 4, while the French Tsonga is the current World Number 5. That makes the match interesting and a must watch Thursday.

Porto has been the 2009 US Open Champion and won the first ATP title at Open 13 in France. He also reached the Rotterdam Open final but lost to Roger Federer.
As for Tsonga, he has recently inched upward to his career high that is World Number 5 in the ATP.

Both Potro and Tsonga know each other well as they have met each other on the tennis courts six times before. Although Tsonga has inched upwards in recent times, and Potro has now moved down six notches to be placed at Number 10, Potro has a 4-1 win-loss head-t-head record against Tsonga. And when they met last, Potro came out to be a winner at the Marseille ATP tournament 2012 recently.

It would be the every endeavor of Potro to outdo Tsonga to better his books and looks for the rest of the tournament. We wish Potro best of luck and to Tsonga too - who plays better, wins.

The match is scheduled at 16:30 GMT on Thursday 1st March at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in Dubai.

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship 2012 is getting hot now as it enters the quarterfinals stage. Today, we shall be watching the current World Number One Novak Djokovic to take on Janko Tipsarevic. It would be an interesting match as both have been the Davis Cup teammates and know each other very well.

And quite obviously the Serb, who is he five-time Grand Slam champion, would battle his opponent with somewhat difficulty, as the last time Novak Djokovic and  Janko Tipsarevic  met in the round-robin stages of the ATP World Tour Finals in London in November 2011 was quite tough and Tipsarevic scored a shock victory over Djokovic.Likewise reaching the quarterfinals hasn't been that easy for the three-time defending champion Djokovic since he faced a stubborn resistance from Ukranian Sergiy Stakhovsky to reach the quarterfinals Wednesday.

So one can be never sure of today's match - anything can happen. The 27-year-old Janko Tipsarevic has performed well so far and played some good tennis as it is his third quarter final of the 2012 season and he has the stamina and skill to worry Djokovic.

Djokovic, Federer into quarterfinals at Dubai

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer each won in straight sets Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Djokovic beat Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine 7-6 (5), 6-3, while Federer defeated Feliciano Lopez of Spain 7-5, 6-3.
Andy Murray of Britain also reached the final eight with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Marco Chiudinelli of Switzerland, as did Russia's Mikhail Youzhny, who beat American Mardy Fish 6-2, 7-6 (0).

Dubai Duty Free Tennis: Stakhovsky gives a tough time to Djokovic

World number one Novak Djokovic was given a stern second-round test by Sergiy Stakhovsky before winning 7-6(5) 6-3 at the Dubai Championships.

Djokovic, who has won the last three championships in Dubai, was a huge favourite to advance to a quarter-final against compatriot Janko Tipsarevic, who had earlier beaten Flavio Cipolla 6-7 6-1 6-1, but was not at his best against his Ukrainian opponent.

And the world number 74 asked plenty of questions of Djokovic, but was edged out on the crucial points and beaten after an 89-minute contest.

Strange start for Federer's record attempt

Grand slam record-holder Roger Federer began his attempt to win a record fifth Dubai Open title with one of the strangest victories of his career.

The Swiss legend won 6-0 7-6 (8-6) against France's Michael Llodra in a match in which he won the first 11 points and then the first set in only 17 minutes, only to find himself set point down in the second.

Part of this schizoid quality was created by Llodra arriving late the night before from the Marseille Open final, starting slowly, and then ambushing Federer with some brilliant net attacks and a sudden leap in standard.
