31 years old World no.3 and five-time champion Swiss Roger Federer and reigning titlist Germany's Tommy Haas meet Saturday in a rematch of last year's final at the $900,000 Gerry Weber Open, a grass-court Wimbledon tune-up.

The top-seeded former world No. 1 Federer double-bageled German Mischa Zverev 6-0, 6-0 in just 39 minutes, while a third-seeded Tommy Haas fought back to beat former top-10 Frenchman Gael Monfils 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-3 in Friday's quarterfinal at Gerry Weber Stadium.

Today's match is important to Federer as he is without a title so far this season and a win at Halle will serve him as a good start at Wimbledon which starts almost ten days later.

The men's single Halle semis between Federer and Haas is scheduled for Saturday, 15 June 2013 at 11:00 GMT Gerry Weber Stadium.

Pakistan's Qureshi and his Dutch partner Rojer capture Halle

Pakistan's Aisam ul Haq Qureshi, who last year paired with his former Indian partner Rohan Bopanna won the ATP Halle men's double event, successfully defended his title and won the Gerry Weber Open 2012 Sunday.

However, the only difference was that this year, he won the Halle title with his new new Dutch partner Jean Julian Rojer. The pair beat Treat Conrad Huey and Scott Lipsky 6-3, 6-4.

After the win, Qureshi told ATPWorldTour.com:

“I knew it was going to be a tough final. I played Huey three times this year and Lipsky twice, so we had a little bit of an idea on what to do. Because they had lost to us, we knew they would come in pumped, so we expected them to play really well.” 

Qureshi and Rojer improved to a 2-0 record in title matches, having lifted their first team trophy in Estoril (d. Knowle/Marrero). Both won their seventh career ATP World Tour title.

Tommy Haas rules ATP Halle: Roger Federer subdued

Well all those who thought the Swiss and World no.2 to make headlines by winning the ATP Halle / Gerry Weber Open tennis championship would have been awe struck when the heard the news otherwise. Yes it was Tommy Haas who made headlines instead by winning over the Swiss in simple straight sets 7-6, 6-4.

It seems the continuous playing has taken its toll over the major tennis stars as after Nadal was ousted from Halle, Federer too could not come to the grips of green green grass after lot of playing on red and blue clay.

Had Federer won Sunday, he would have broken his own very record of winning Halle for the sixth time - but it was not to be so.

Haas who has won Halle once before in 2009 was not being favoured at all for Sunday's win but has surely had a deep impact on Federer's preparations for the Wimbledon which starts in just over a week's time.

Well, the result of the second semi final is available and it is German Tommy Haas, and not German P. Kohlschreiber as was sepculated by many, to play the ATP Halle final Sunday 17 June.

87th ranked Tommy Haas beat defending champion P. Kohlschreiber in a tough and last minute biting semi final Saturday today 7(7)-6(5), 7-5.

Federer has already made it for the fianl after beating unseeded Russian Mikhail Youzhny 6-1, 6-4 in the semi final earlier Saturday today.

Now Federer meets wild card Tommy Haas in a bid to win the ATP Halle for the record sixth time - although this will be his seventh Halle final.

Federer and Haas played up to today 8 Games. Last time Federer met Haas at Wimbledon Men played on Grass Court in 2009. 

Federer is aiming to win his 75th tour title, only two behind all-time leader John McEnroe.

The match is scheduled for Sunday, 17 June 2012.

Federer to play his seventh Halle final

Roger Federer, the five times Halle champion, beat unseeded Russian Mikhail Youzhny 6-1, 6-4 in the first semi final played on Saturday today of Gerry Weber Open / ATP Halle.

The win takes him to play the ATP Halle final for the seventh time as he lost his sixth final against Lleyton Hewitt in 2010. Federer has earlier won the Halle finals consecutively from 2003-2006 and then for the fifth time in 2008.

It reamins to be seen who plays against the Swiss in the final as till writing of this post the match between defending champion Philipp Kohlschreiber and his fellow country man Tommy Haas has not started.

Defending Halle champion German Philipp Kohlschreiber, who osuted the Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal from the Halle race Friday, now plays against fellow country man Tommy Haas in the second semi final of Gerry Weber Open / ATP Halle Saturday today. The eighth-seeded German Kohlschreiber is playing the Halle semis for the fifth time and is eyeing to defend his title against either Federer or Youzhny.

Tommy Haas, the winner in 2009, and Kohlschreiber are meeting for the first time in six years. Hass will play his fourth semi-final Saturday, and is aiming to reach his first ATP World Tour final since capturing his 12th career title three years ago in Halle.

Federer plays Youzhny in ATP Halle Semi Finals: Watch Live Online Free Streaming - Saturday 16 June

Federer finds it easier on grass rather than clay, which he was subjected to on last so many matches and championships where he could no click.

Federer has met Russian Mikhail Youzhny 13 times since they first met at ATP Stockholm in 2000 and has a clear winning edge of 13-0 over the Russian. They last met at ATP Dubai earlier this year when Federer won 6-3, 6-4.

Mikhail Youzhny has won all of his last three matches on grass at Halle and he beat R. Stepanek 6-4 4-6 6-4 to reach the semis to face Federer.

Federer vs Raonic: Free Live Streaming - ATP Halle Quarterfinals 15 June

Disappointed from the red clay, Swiss Roger Federer comes to his favourite grass at ATP Halle and plays against Canadian Milos Raonic in the quarterfianls, Friday afternoon.

Federer has playsed against Raonic only twice in his career at Indian Wells and Madrid this year - both time prevailing over the Canadian.

Five-time Gerry Weber Open champion Federer has lost twice in his last ten matches, both times on clay at Barcelona and recently at French Open while playing against Monaco. Federer played against Z Zhang in the second round at Halle and won 6-1, 6-1.

Raonic too has lost twice in his last ten matches at Rome and French Open, both times against world no.1 Novak Djokovic.

Away from the long spells of red and blue clay, recently crowned Roland Garros champion Spaniard Rafael Nadal plays against 34th ranked German Philipp Kohlschreiber on the green grass of Halle quarterfinals, Friday.

Nadal and Kohlschreiber are not new to each other as they have met nine times since they first met at australian Open in 2007 - and everytime the Spaniard winning over the German.

Nadal is sailing very smoothly so far as he has won all of his last ten matches, nine on clay and last against L Lacko at Halle on grass in the second round of Gerry Weber Open or the ATP Halle. 

The German on the other hand has lost four of his last ten matches, all on clay. However, he has won his last two matches at Halle on grass. Kohlschreiber beat L Kubot in the second round 6-7(5) 6-1 6-3.

However, unlike clay, grass is never a favourite place for Nadal - he last played at Halle seven years ago, fresh from his first French Open title but suffered a rude awakening on his debut on grass, losing in the first round to Alexander Waske. On the contrary, Swiss Roger Federer has been most successful here as he has won Halle titles five times. So let us see how Nadal fares here this year. But beware, Federer is also coming up as he is scheduled to play the quarterfinals against Raonic later today.
