A jubilant Chris Gayle  for hitting 175 (not out) in just 66 balls

What a day it was today as Chris Gayle wiped out everything written earlier in T20 record books by hitting 175 in just 66 balls.

Yes, he really did it for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL match against Pune Warriors.

It was the day of the fastest century - Gayle  brought off in just 30 balls; made the highest individual T20 score (175 not out); struck the most sixes by a batsman in a T20 innings (17); helped Royal Challengers Bangalore hit the most sixes for a team in a T20 innings (21) and reach the highest total in T20 cricket (263).

The fastest hundred in T20 history was built on the misery of others, most notably a struggling franchise whose owners - they spent US$370 million to buy it - watched shell-shocked at their team's bowlers being taken apart with a ruthlessness only a game of Cricket '97 powered with cheat codes could have matched.

After Gayle's onslaught, there was only going to be one result, and further confirmation of that arrived when four wickets fell inside the first six overs of the Warriors chase. Their defeat was the second-biggest in terms of runs in the IPL's six seasons.

Gilchrist's fifty takes Punjab closer to victory

Five Indian players suspended from IPL cricket

The Indian Premier League Governing Council has recommended the suspension of 5 players allegedly caught on camera indulging in spot-fixing in a sting operation aired by a TV channel, sources say. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India president N Srinivasan will take a final decision. The five players are Amit Yadav, Mohnish Mishra, Abhinav Bali, TP Sudhindra and Shalabh Srivastava.

Indian Cricket Board To Investigate IPL Fixing Claims

The Board of Control for Cricket in India said it will examine footage from a sting operation carried out by a television channel that implicates cricketers in illegal practices, including spot-fixing, an issue that threatens to tarnish the big-money Indian Premier League.

The footage, carried on India TV, includes an Indian cricketer apparently bowling a deliberate no-ball in a domestic match in return for cash, and others admitting that they get paid much more than their already lofty IPL auction prices might suggest.

IPL spot-fixing: Kings XI Punjab bowler Srivastava says he's innocent

Kings XI Punjab fast bowler Shalabh Srivastava, who reportedly demanded Rs. 10 lakh to bowl a deliberate no-ball during an IPL game, said that he was innocent and that the audio clip that a TV channel is playing is doctored. 

Speaking exclusively to NDTV, Shalabh said: "I fail to understand whatever is being said about spot-fixing. Also if they (a TV channel) are showing all the video clips, why aren't they showing the clip where allegedly I am demanding Rs. 10 lakh. The voice in that telephonic conversation is not mine. It is very easy to frame anyone with a doctored audio clip."

Kevin Pietersen exits IPL as Michael Clarke makes debut

England batting star Kevin Pietersen flew home on Wednesday after a highly successful stint in the Indian Premier League as Australia captain Michael Clarke made his debut in the Twenty20 tournament.

Pietersen, who left midway through the league to prepare for England's home series against the West Indies, scored 305 runs at an average of 61.00 in his first season with the Delhi Daredevils.

He played eight matches for the top-of-the table side, featuring a brilliant innings of 103 not out off 64 balls against the Deccan Chargers on April 19.
