What, you were expecting tennis history? Turns out you'll have to wait at least another day—and who knows—maybe two.
At the French Open on Sunday, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal battled to a near draw when a persistent drizzle turned into a heavier rain and postponed this already-historic final until Monday. Nadal won the first two sets 6-4, 6-3, but lost the third 6-2 and trailed by a break of serve at 2-1 when play was called for the night. Each player had won exactly 97 points when play was stopped.
For much of the day, Nadal seemed likely to win in straight sets. When Nadal broke serve for a 4-3 lead in the second, Djokovic smashed his racket into his bench, opening a hole in it and sending fragments of it flying onto the court. A game later, the rain picked up and the players were sent off. When they returned, Nadal broke serve again and won the first two games of the third set. Djokovic looked disgusted.
