Federer sets up all-Swiss Monte Carlo final with Wawrinka: Watch free live streaming | Sunday 20 April

World no.4 Roger Federer knocked out world no.2 Novak Djokovic in the semis of the Monte Carlo Masters to set up an all-Swiss date with fellow countryman world no.3 Stanislas Wawrinka Sunday afternoon today.

Federer at 32 is showing strong signs of a comeback as he knocked out world no.2 Novak Djokovic, six years younger to him, in the semis of Monte Carlo on Saturday in straight sets 7-5, 6-2.

Ironically in an all-Spanish quarter final, Roger Ferrer who beat world no.1 Nadal lost the race for the final when world no.3 Stanislas Wawrinka ousted him out of Monte Carlo in the semis.

So do not forget to watch this sensational Monte Carlo All-Swiss final this Easter Sunday today. It would be interesting to watch world nos 3 and 4 from Switzerland battling to outscore each other to win the Monte Carlo final.  Roger Federer is chasing his eighth ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title and 22nd overall.

The Monte Carlo final is scheduled for Sunday 20 April at 13:30 GMT.

Wawrinka knocks out defending champion Djokovic from Australian Open

I said in my earlier post that no one should miss the quarter final between the defending champion Djokovic and Wawrinka - and I was damn right. Those who missed the match, missed a long-time-to-remember match.

8th ranked Stanislas Wawrinka's resilience overpowered three time defending champion Novak Djokovic at the Rod Laver Arena and advanced into a very well deserved semi final.

Having won the first set, Djokovic lost the next two. He regained the match by winning the fourth - but the fifth set was a set to watch. It seemed as if everyone's hot favourite would finally prevail upon Wawrinka - but that was not to be so. And finally Wawrinka won the long set at 9-7 and the match 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 9-7.

Stanislas Wawrinka Thus ended Novak Djokovic’s 28-match winning streak. This was Wawrinka's third win against world no.2 and also ended Djokovic’s streak of 14 Grand Slam semifinals.

Djokovic lost for the first time since the U.S. Open final. He entered Tuesday with a 28-match winning streak and 13 victories in a row against top-10 opponents.

After the match, Wawrinka said:
"I was not feeling very good at the beginning," he confesses. "He is an amazing champion but I never give up. I am really, really, really, really, happy! I was tired at the end, for sure. I was cramping a bit and I was really nervous and I tried to relax a bit. Now I am going to go into the ice bath for a long, long time!"
Wawrinka will face Tomas Berdych next, the first semifinal appearance here for both men. Berdych defeated David Ferrer earlier Tuesday.

But wait!! Do not miss now to watch another interesting quarter-final on Wednesday when British Andy Murray clashes with 17 Grand Slam winner Roger Federer. Do not miss it out.

Wawrinka joins Nadal and Djokovic in semis of ATP World Tour Finals

Ranked 7th, Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland joins Nadal and Djokovic in the semis of ATP World Tour Finals.

Wawrinka, who played his toughest match against world no.1 Nadal, beat Spaniard David Ferrer 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 6-1 in the final group round.

However, Wawrinka needed Nadal to win against his match with Tomas Berdych for him to qalify for the semis - and NAdal did by beating Berdych 6-4 1-6 6-3 in the last Group A match.

It may be added that Novak Djokovic is already through from Group B, and will be joined by Roger Federer or Juan Martin Del Potro.

Djokovic defends his fourth round against extremely resilient and motivated Wawrinka | Watch screen shots of 5th set

I have been watching Grand Slams and other tennis greats since long, but what I witnessed today was something classic - something that will be remembered as an epic Australian Open match - a match by two men who did not fail themselves till the very last and it was just a thin line separating the two from victory and defeat till the very last ball.

Djokovic celebrates his hard earned win after 12-10 in the fifth set [Screen shot: Euro Sport]

Yes I am talking of the fourth round encounter between the world no.1 and the defending champion Novak Djokovic and 17th ranked Stanislas Wawrinka Sunday evening today.

Having lost his first set Wawrinka 1-6, Djokovic won the next two sets 7-5 6-4. Now everyone thought that the world no.1 would take the fourth set and move on - but that wasn't to be so as Wawrinka came back to game once again to win the fourth set 7(7)-6(5).

With two sets equal, the real battle started - the battle to move to the quarters. And what a battle it was. Wawrinka recoiled from every move Djokovic made and the equalized game started to a never ending thing. After 6-6, it was all consecutive numbers  7-7, 8-8. 9-9. 10-10. And it was here the game started to tilt in Djokovic's favour who finally made it 12-10 and won the match.

-->

But the match Wawrinka played and the battle he fought will be remembered forever - for he showed that with resilience, hard worked, determination and positiveness  one can make wonders and wonders he did, making it extremely difficult for the Serbian to clinch the game from him.

And Djokovic too showed his determination to win and literally snatched away the last set from the teeth of Wawrinka, he wasn't letting it to go.

Two true players shaking hands after the match

Today's match was Novak Djokovic's 171st Slam  match, but first that has ever gone past 7-7 in fifth and won over 12-10. Stanislas Wawrinka, meanwhile, won 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-2, 6-7 (8), 11-9 over Ivo Karlovic in Wimbledon 2006, his only previous match past 7-7.

But one thing is for sure - in days to come, a new name in the top ranking players is to emerge soon: Stanislas Wawrinka, who in the absence of Nadal, and soon the void to be created by aging Federer, will shine and be number one some day.

Djokovic v Wawrinka: Watch Live Free Streaming | Australian Open - Fourth Round, 20 January

World no.1 and the defending champion from Serbia Novak Djokovic faces 17th ranked Stanislas Wawrinka in the fourth round match of the Australian Open Sunday morning today.

Novak Djokovic first came across Stanislas Wawrinka at Aachen, Germany in 2004 on the carpet court in the first round and has since played against him in 15 matches. Of these, Djokovic has won 13. Stanislas Wawrinka won two matches against the Serbian at Umag in 2206, when Djokovic retired in the final when it was 6-6 in the first set. Wawrinka won again at Vienna in the second round in 2006.

But those were old times. Since 2006, Djokovic is on a winning spree and met Wawrinka in the US Open 2012, when Wawrinka retired in the third set of the fourth round having lost two earlier sets to the Serbian at a score of 3-1.

Today's match is important for Djokovic to move into the quarters and then onwards to defend his title and win the first Grand Slam of the year.

The match is scheduled at 09:30 GMT Sunday, 20, January at Rod Laver Arena.
