It seems that older champs are on their way out and new ones are entering the tennis arena to repalce them.
Although Roger Federer won the WImbledon for the seventh time, beating Andy recently, but he is aging now. His semi final match yesterday against Del Potro was almosst a a disaster and it was with much difficulty and firing all his after burners that Federer could finally overpower the Argentinian 3-6, 7-6, 19-17, in what was the longest match of the open era - four hours and 26 minutes.
Novak Djokovic has not been able to make a mark since his Australian Open title earlier this year. He has lost french Open and the Wimbledon and now the Olympic gold race. He may settle down for a bronze, like he did in Beijing 2008. But he too seems to be giving away and running out of steam.
And Rafa - though he did make impressions on the clay, his perofrmance of grass came to a stunning end when he was ousted fom the Wimbledon - despite being in his best shape after winning the Frnech Open for the seventh time this year.
Having said this, let us return to Andy, who is shown resilience and determination to face the best of the champions of the time and even defeated the once no.1 just yesterday. Andy had onece remarked that the titles will start slipping from the first few - something that we have started to witness now.
