Vettel may lose world title for alleged illegal overtake

Celebrated champion Sebastian Vettel's world title is in doubt as Ferrari are considering an appeal to the FIA over what may have been an illegal manoeuvre by the Red Bull driver in Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix.

Yellow peril: Vettel's pass on Vergne has been brought into question

Footage on YouTube appears to show Vettel overtaking Toro Rosso driver Jean-Eric Vergne under yellow flag conditions.

Overtaking is outlawed under such conditions and a 20-second penalty may be handed out retrospectively, which would demote Vettel to eighth place and see Ferrari's Fernando Alonso crowned world champion by a point.

An incident to mention came on lap 56, when Lewis Hamilton (McLaren), leader at the time, and Nico Hulkenberg (Force India) came together shattering Hamilton's front suspension in his final race for McLaren. The Formula One Brazilian Grand Prix 'Grande Prêmio do Brasil' is scheduled for Sunday afternoon today at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Interlagos, São Paulo, Brazil.

The developments as on Saturday, 24 November were as under:

Lewis Hamilton won the pole position for the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix, while Formula One leader Sebastian Vettel will start fourth and title challenger Fernando Alonso seventh.

Hamilton set a lap of 1 minute, 12.458 seconds with his McLaren at Interlagos, just .055 in front of teammate Jenson Button. Vettel's Red Bull teammate Mark Webber will start third after a lap of 1:12.581, with Vettel behind him following a run of 1:12.760.
Ferrari's Felipe Massa was fifth after clocking 1:12.987, while teammate Alonso only managed a lap of 1:13.253, hurting his chances of overtaking Vettel for the championship. His lap was only good for eighth place, but he later moved up a spot because sixth-place Pastor Maldonado of Williams was penalized 10 grid positions for not stopping for weighing.
Vettel needs to finish fourth or better on Sunday to become F1's youngest three-time champion at age 25. Alonso, also seeking his third title, needs at least a podium finish to have any chance of overcoming a 13-point deficit in the standings.
The race at Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Interlagos, São Paulo is scheduled for 16:00 GMT on Sunday, 25 November 2012.

US Grand Prix Formula 1 Race: Watch Live Free Streaming | Austin - Texas 18 November 2012

The return of Formula 1 to USA is being hailed by the Americans as the series returns to the U.S. for the first time in five years Sunday evening today at newly built, $300-million track called Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Formula One last raced in the U.S. in 2007, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The highlight of the race Sunday is the Sebastian Vettel of the Red Bull team, who is trying to win his third consecutive F1 title. He has a 10-point lead over Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, a two-time champion. Sebastian Vettel has already won a battle with McLaren's Lewis Hamilton to take pole position for the race this evening. In the run, Hamilton ran Vettel much closer to him than had looked likely - but the Red Bull was just 0.109 seconds quicker.

For American investors and market holders, the event is a big one as this would provide them to invest and get great returns. Even Hollywood is capitalizing on the Austin race. Director Ron Howard plans a new movie next year, "Rush," about the 1970s rivalry between F1 drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda, and Howard already has been to Austin to promote the film and show some behind-the-scenes footage to get the word out, informs  Jim Peltz of Los Angeles Times.

Formula 1 is the most liked race event as it attracts some 300 million audience on TV the world over, and US certainly is the biggest fan base. Formula One cars also are considered the most technologically advanced in motor racing. As a result, the cost of running a top-flight Formula 1 team can exceed $200 million a year, compared with about $20 million for a premier NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team.

Well, do not miss out this big event Sunday afternoon as all tickets for the 120,000 sets have already been sold out who will be lucky to watch the top 24 drivers that make up the grid.

And you know what: A second U.S. Grand Prix on the streets of New Jersey in 2014 is on the cards, while the track ownership in Austin signed a 10-year contract, proving a commitment to make Formula 1 a success deep in the heart of Texas.

The race will commence 19:00 GMT on Sunday, 18 November at Austin, Texas.
