Swansea knock out Manchester United from FA Cup

No one would believe it - nor even the mighty Red Devils as they were stunned by the otherwise humble Swans at Old Trafford yesterday.

Yes, the Swans struck hard at the Devils in an otherwise drawn match with 1-1 each in the crucial FA Cup when when Wilfried Bony's 90th minute winner knocked 10-man Manchester United out of the FA Cup.

The victory of the Swans was also their first win ever at the Old Trafford.

The match opened by a goal for the Swans in the 12th minute by Routledge, which was soon equalised in the 16th minute by Red Devil Hernández. From then on till the 90th minute when the whistle was almost blown, came the stunner when Bony struck and a header from him from the centrer of the box to the top left corner won the match for his team 2-1 - leaving the stunned Manchester United not only as the loser but also kicked out of the FA Cup.

It marked a second consecutive defeat for David Moyes's side, who also lost against Tottenham on New Year's Day. They have lost five times at home this season, including four of their last six at Old Trafford.

United last won the FA Cup in 2004 but that wait must continue with the focus now on Tuesday's first leg of the Capital One Cup against Sunderland as Moyes attempts to salvage some silverware in his first season in charge.

Swansea City crushes Valencia 3-0 in Europa League Group A match

Michu celebrates his goal

It was totally a one sided show last evening as Swansea crushed a 10-member Valencia squad by 3-0.

Swansea was in control of the game most of the time throughout the match and their body language could tell a victory right from the outset when Bony fired the first goal in the 14th minutes with his right-footed opener, which went in via a deflection.

However, the first half then went by without any goal but the second half saw more activity by the Swans than their opponents. Michu scored the second goal of the match in the 58th minutes from eight yards to lead the match 2-0 over Valencia.

And as if this was not all to ensure a crushing victory over Valencia as Jonathan de Guzman fired in a 30-yard free-kick to put Swansea top of Group A with a 3-0 victory.

Swansea now leads the Group A with three points followed by St Gallen, aslo with three points. Kuban Krasnodar and Valencia have zero point and sit at no. 3 and 4.

Swansea City v Chelsea : Watch Live Free Streaming | Capital One Cup - Semi Final First Leg: 9 December

The Blues meet the Swans at the Stamford Bridge Wednesday evening tonight in the Semi Final of the First Leg of the Capital One Cup.

Although both Chelsea and Swancity have met umpteen number of times, they have met only once on the League Cup, when Chelsea beat Swansea 3-2 at Stamford Bridge in the fourth round of the competition in November 1964.

Stamford Bridge has not yielded any positive results for the Swans as they have only once beaten the Blues here almost a decade ago with a 3-1 Division Two victory when the clubs first ever met back in November 1925.

Chelsea won the League Cup for the fourth time in in 2007, which places it next to Liverpool (eight) and Aston Villa (five) for winning the Cup for more than once.

And today's match assumes much importance for the Swans as they have reached the semi-finals of the League Cup for the first time in their history, and had never before reached the last eight. And certainly they would like to cash on the opportunity to move forward to better their record rather than succumbing to the Blues tonight.

Let us find out what strtaegy the Swans adoipt to outscore the Blues to move on.

The match is scheduled for Wednesday, 9 December 2013 at 19:45 GMT at Stamford Bridge.

Historic Quarterfianl Reach by Swansea by knocking off Liverpool out of Capital One Cup

Wednesday was a unique day. While the hot favourite world no.2 Novak Djokovic was knocked out of the Paris Masters by 23rd ranked American Sam Querrey right in the second round, Swansea knocked out Liverpool from the Capital One Cup and qualified for the quarterfinal.

For Swansea, the 3-1 victory over Liverpool is a big victory as it takes them to the Capital One Quarterfinal for the first time in their history.

Swansea's Chico was the first to goal in 34th minutes, followed by another one by Dyer in 72nd minutes. Suarez from Liverpool though struck the lonely goal from Liverpool in the 76th minute, Liverpool could not save its defeat as De Guzman from Swansea scored the third and final goal in 90th minute to seal the fate of the Liverpool, knocking them out of the Capital One Cup.

-->
Liverpool was really humiliated as the Swansea attackers did not let them allow them to gather a strong move and charge on to the Swansea goalpost.

The aggressive Swansea kept the ball and the game in their possession for 58% of the time and did not allow the Liverpool to have any dominating moves.

Swansea will Middlesbrough in the quarters.

Manchester United win over Swansea levels on points with Manchester City

First-half goals by Paul Scholes and Ashley Young earned a comfortable win over Swansea as Manchester United moved level on points with Manchester City - but it could not disguise a feeling of helplessness at Old Trafford.

Although only goal difference separates the top two, the championship will be City's for the first time in 44 years so long as Roberto Mancini's side can match United's result on the final day of the season. City will face QPR at home, having won all but one of their 18 Premier League matches at the Etihad Stadium, while United travel to Sunderland.
And with United only managing the same margin of victory as City had earlier recorded at Newcastle, Sir Alex Ferguson's men trail their "noisy neighbours" by eight goals.

Swansea City v Newcastle United: Watch Online Free Good Friday 6 April

Today, New Castle are visiting Swansea with very high hopes of winning: A win that would be one step up the long ladder to a wining spree. But that ladder is very high and it would require of the Newcaste United to use every gram of their strength to prevail upon not only the Swans this Good Friday, but many others to get the much need 9 points - OUT OF NINE.

If Magpies win the match with the Swans , they have host relelgation battlers Bolton, then mid-table Stoke, before a trip to Wigan. But still ahead are Chelsea and Man City - oh boy, what a long and ardous journey ahead.

But would Swans let them win today? That is something to be seen today. Remember, Swans will be sailing with vigour in their own pond with lot of fans applauding - taking the heart out of the visitors.

As for the Swansea, we know they are in good shape too. The Swans have been the Premier League's surprise package, and currently sit in 11th place in the league table, but they will be pushing for a top 10 finish. Their home record is very good, losing just three at the Liberty Stadium, and conceding just 12 goals there all season. Goalkeeper Michel Vorm has along with Newcastle's Tim Krul, been one of the performers of the season.

The match between the visitors Newcastle United and hosts Swansea gets played at Swansea City at 16.30 BST / 15:30 GMT on 6 April 2012, the Good Friday, at the Liberty Stadium.
