Manchester City routed by Bayern Munich

What a match it was last night at Etihad Stadium when the visiting Germans routed the host Citizens 3-1 in a dramatic match in front of roaring City fans.

Joe Hart's poor form continued as Manchester City's England goalkeeper suffered a nightmare in this comprehensive Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich at Etihad Stadium.

The Germans scored their first goal right in the 7th minute when Ribéry's long range effort went into the net. Thereafter, the first half was dominated by the Germans with 1-0 and the Citizens could not do a damn about it.

In the second half, Müller and Robben scored two more goals in the 56th and 59th minute to add to the miseries of the Citizens and humiliating them right in front of their home crowd.

However, a face saver from Negredo came in the very last moments when he scored the lone goal for Manchester City in the 79th minutes. But this could not save the hosts from a humiliating defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich who finally won the match 3-1.

In the many  matches of UEFA Champions League planned today,  Arsenal will be looking to retain their place at the top of Group F as they host Napoli in the Champions League on Tuesday evening at the Emirates Stadium.

Both teams secured 2-1 wins in the opening round of matches and will square off in competitive action for the first time at the Emirates Stadium.

Rafa Benitez returns to England with his new side having dropped just two points all season, but face a Gunners outfit which have won eight on the bounce in all competitions.

However, Manager Arsène Wenger believes it is "absolutely ridiculous" to talk about Arsenal as potential Premier League winners so early in the season - and urged his side to focus instead on their European aspirations against Napoli Tuesday evening.

As for the ace players, Midfielder Tomas Rosicky will return to the Arsenal squad for Tuesday's Champions League Group F game against Napoli at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna believes the club now have the squad size and personnel to mount a sustained assault on both the Premier League and Champions League titles.

The UEFA Champions League match is scheduled to be played between Arsenal - Napoli on Tuesday 1 October at 18:45 GMT at the Emirates Stadium.

Manchester City vs Viktoria Plzen: UEFA Champions League | Watch Free Live Streaming - 17 September

So we are back to UEFA Champions League wherein Manchester City meets Czech opponent Viktoria Plzen in Champions League opener Tuesday evening today.

It may be added that Manuel Pellegrini is attempting to guide City into the knock-out stages of Europe’s premier competition for the first time after two dismal campaigns under Roberto Mancini.

The Citizens will have to start with an aggressive and winning game against the Czechs as other teams in Manchester City’s group are holders Bayern Munich and CSKA Moscow - and any laxity will cost dearly when playing with the strong teams of the group D.

So the match gets going today in a 11,700-capacity Doosan Arena where Pellegrini’s credentials will be put to the test by Czech underdogs Viktoria Plzen.

The match is scheduled to be played on Sep 17, 2013 at 18.45 GMT at Doosan Arena.

Bayern München wins UEFA Champions League Final from a last minute goal

The UEFA Champions League 'All German' final was a thriller till the last minute at Wembley last night.

Having had a goalless first half, Mandzukic struck in the 60th minute for Bayern München - but it was very soon equalized by Gundogan in the 67th minute on a penalty. There after, both teams tried their best to score one more goal to clinch the trophy - but it did not seem to be forthcoming till the very end.

And when it came in the 89th minute by Robben, the entire crowd at Wembley burst with a big roar - and Munich claimed the much coveted Champions League trophy.

The tournament's recent history has offered little other than unrelenting misery for Robben and Bayern München - but the agony is over after a colourful, enthralling final that confirmed Germany as the new power base of European domestic football.

Bayern München had lost two finals in three years, including defeat on penalties to Chelsea in their own Allianz Arena 12 months ago, but on this occasion they cast off the tag of losers to claim the crown for the fifth time.

It may be added that only Real Madrid (nine) and AC Milan (seven) have won this tournament more times and the taste of victory was even sweeter for 29-year-old Robben and veteran Bayern München coach Jupp Heynckes, who steps aside to hand over to Pep Guardiola at the end of this season.

Ronaldo not to celebrate goals against Red Devils

Real Madrid's ace striker Cristiano Ronaldo says he will not celebrate if he scores against Manchester United.

Ronaldo with Sir Alex

Real Madrid have been tied against the Red Devils in the Round of 16 of the Champions League at the Bernabeu on 13 February and then at Old Trafford on 5 March following Thursday's draw.

Ronaldo has six years' affiliation with the Red Devils and his nostalgia will not allow celebrating his goals against his old club - something he still values and remembers:
"It is thanks to Manchester United that I play for Real Madrid. Without them, I wouldn't be the player I am today."

The recent draw takes 27 years old Ronaldo for his first visit to Old Trafford since his £80m move to Spain in June 2009.

Manchester United vs CFR Cluj: Watch Live Free Streaming | ESPNFC UEFA Euro 2012: 5 December

Manchester United meet the reigning Romanian champions CFR Cluj in the group stage matches of Group H Wednesday today evening at the Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red Devils' manager is quite upset with the defence of his team and is certainly demanding an improved defense from his team to keep up their name and not to me mowed down at Old Trafford by the CFR.

"[The defending at the weekend] was like a Cartoon Cavalcade. We're getting punished when balls go into the box, but we should be defending far better. Reading did produce some fantastic balls into the box, but we should be expecting better."

It may be recalled that 19th ranked Reading on Saturday almost thrashed the Red Devils when the fianlly lost 3-4. But no one could expect a very low average team to show their teeth to a team sitting at the top of the world.

Therefore, after a thrashing form the Royals, Sir Alex's concerns are genuine and he would not like a repition of the same when they meet CFR at the Old Trafford today. While it was expected that the Red Devil captain Vidic may return to his team, but the news is that he has not recovered enough from his knee injury and will be missing this evening.

Like the Royals, Paulo Sérgio wants his CFR 1907 Cluj side to seize the chance of an "amazing achievement", specially when they are unbeaten away from home in Europe this term over four games, having won three and drawn once.

The likely lineup for Wednesday:

Watch Live Real Madrid vs. Ajax Free Streaming | The UEFA Champions League: 4 December

A lot many matches are planned for the Champions League Tuesday tonight, the last of which is between the Real Madrid and Ajax in the Group D.

Today's match is very important for the Ajax. If they do not win, there presence in the Europa League may be unlikely. Their performance against Real Madrid has been very sketchy and lowly as the lost five times in their last meeting, conceding 16 goals. Now for tonight's match, they will have to go into the field with turbo chargers on as they will be playing against one of the best teams of the world.

Real Madrid has bagged 8 points in the last five matches (2W, 2D, 1L) and have a guaranteed second place in the Group D. They should find any difficulty in subduing the Ajax - unless Ajax have a motivation level that can be heard and taped by NASA's rover Discovery on the Mars.

The match is scheduled for Tuesday 4, December 2012 at 19:45 GMT.

Messi bails out Barcelona against Spartak

At a time when the Russian Spartak were almost skirting with a 2-1 over the Barca with under twenty minutes to the final whistle, Lionel Messi struck with two goals to turn the table and let Barcelona leave the field with heads high at Nou camp.

The win means 17 undefeated straight home games in Europe for Barca.

The complexion of the game changed in 59 minutes when Dikan brilliantly denied Messi at one end and the Russians broke down the other for former Celtic star Aiden McGeady to play in Romulo to score.

But it was all square again after Tello produced another piece of magic to tee up Messi for the easiest of finishes. And Messi won it when Sanchez’s killer cross found the South American ace to nod the ball home.

Watch Live Real Madrid vs Manchester City Free Streaming - UEFA Champions League | 18 September

The opening match of the Champions League of the Group D match between the nine times European champions Real Madrid and Manchester City Tuesday night is going to be a blockbuster and start with a big bang.

Real Madrid had not have a good start this season mainly due to lack of commitment by the players as admitted by Jose Mourinho the Real Madrid coach. Jose continued on to saying, "I am worried that I don’t have a team" after seeing them slip eight points behind leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona. Therefore many expect Real Madrid for a rebound on their poor performance and surprise the Citizens.

As for the Citizens, there are some problems too. They are expected to have striker Sergio Aguero back for their Champions League match against Real Madrid after a month out with a knee injury - but that is still a question mark. Midfielder Gareth Barry (abdominal) is also in contention after appearing for the first time this term as a substitute in the 1-1 draw at Stoke.

So let us watch this match scheduled for Tuesday, 18 September 2012 at 18:45 GMT at Madrid's Bernabeu Stadium, Spain.

Champions League Final between Chelsea - Bayern Munich: Watch Live Free Streaming (19 May 2012)

The exciting and fateful day finally arrives Sunday 19 May 2012 when Chelsea, the most unexpected team having reached the final of Champions League, meets Bayern Munich for the final show down.

When just before the quarterfinals, when everyone thought that either Real Madrid or Barcelona would make it to the final, the Blues dumped the 2-11 chapions Barcelona to make it to the finals. Bayern Munich, on the other hand, knocked out the Real Madrid to contest the Blues of the Champions League final.

Now that both Chelsea and Bayern Munich have made it to the final and come face to face on Sunday, many look for a surprise outcome of this showdown. However, if the London Blues win the Champions League, the win will grant them an automatic go through to next year's competition. This is something that the Spurs would never like as in such an eventaulity the Spurs, who finished in fourth spot in the Premier League, will be relegated to playing in the Europa League.

For the final, it is unfortunate that the Blues' captain Terry will not be playing on account of his red-card award in the semi final second leg against Barcelona. However, if Chelsea wins, he would be allowed to lift the silverware.

It may be noted that Chelsea knocked Bayern Munich out of the Champions League in the 2004/05 season. And may it also be said that this is the first final since 2007's game between Liverpool and AC Milan to not feature a league-winning side from their home country.

Probable Lineups:
Chelsea: Peter Cech, Ashley Cole, Michael Essien, Bosingwa, Frank Lampard, John MikelObi, Gary Cahill, Malouda, Salomon Kalou, Juan eyes, Didier Drogba.

Bayern Munich: Manuel Neuer, Jerome Boateng, Philipp Lahm, Rafinha, Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Thomas Mueller, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos, Mario Gomez

The match will be palyed at the Munich's Allianz Arena on Sunday, 19 May 2012.

Barcelona-Chelsea: UEFA Champions League Semi FInal - Watch Live Online

The Blues are travelling to the home of the reigning champions with a 1-0 first leg advantage Tuesday night, 24 April 2012.

Some are skeptic about Chelsea - but what do you say of a team which has lost only once in 14 matches - a 2-1 defeat at title challengers Manchester City. Since Chelsea interim manager Roberto De Mateo has taken over, Chelsea has been taken to meet Liverpool next month in the FA Cup final - and even in the Champions League, there is a chance for moving on to their second League final.

As for Barca, they have Messi to mess up with any Bluish strategy and win them over. Although Barca have missed the injured David Villa this season, but Sánchez can step forward to do a valuable job tonight.

Therefore for the Blues, the Tuesday night's semi final is a do-or-die against the defending champions. But Blues should remeber that the Barcelona pitch is two yards longer and one yard wider than Stamford Bridge - this extra length will require extra strength from their players to exert pressure on the champions.

The match is scheduled for Tuesday 24 April 2012 at 18:45 GMT

Chelsea's lone goal leaves Barcelona beaten

Didier Drogba gave Chelsea a precious lead to take to the Nou Camp for the Champions League semi-final second leg as his goal beat holders Barcelona at Stamford Bridge.
The Catalans dominated possession as well as creating a succession of chances - but Drogba struck in first-half injury time to give interim manager Roberto di Matteo's side an advantage to protect in Barcelona next Tuesday.
