Pakistan humiliates Sri Lanka - win third ODI by 113 Runs

Hafeez (left)  celebrates his 8th ODI century - Umer Gul (right) came back rocking with three wickets

Sharjha was the venue yet again where Pakistan has beaten Sri Lanka in the first ODI just days back. But today was a different day as Pakistan humiliated the Islanders by beating them with huge margin of 113 runs.

It was Hafeez whose impressive century (140) and Shezad's 81 runs that gave Pakistan a tremendous edge when the batted first and gave a target of 327 to Sri Lanka to chase. Perera took 2/58.

Coming to bat, Umer Gul, who had been brought in to replace Sohail Tanvir, struck hard and sent back their two openers in succession. Thereafter the Pakistani bowlers did not let the Islanders stand to their feet and sent them all packing with 113 runs remaining.

Umer Gul took 3/19, while Junaid, Hafeez and Ajmal took two wickets each - Afridi took one. Malinga was last to be bowled by Gul at 213. Umer Gul finished the match when he clean bowled Malinga at 19. See the video below:

For his impressive 141 runs, Hafeez was declared player of the match. Pakistan leads 5-ODI matches series 2-1.

Pakistan plays the fourth and decisive ODI against Sri Lanka at Dubai on 25th December.

Sri Lanka vs Pakistan: 3rd ODI | Watch Free Live Streaming - 22 December

Pakistan and Sri Lanka having equalised the 5-ODI series 1-1, meet again at Sharjha Sunday today afternoon to solidify their position in the ongoing matches being played on the neutral venue in the UAE.

Batting from both sides has been solid and high scoring - it is the bowlers who will make the difference to tilt the weight on either side.

Pakistan's Junaid Khan is an emerging superb fast-bowler. He averages 22.93 after 39 matches - a far superior average to Dale Steyn, James Anderson and Stuart Broad. He bowled a series of cracking balls in an already terrific spell to waylay Sri Lanka's middle order on Friday, but the men around him in the attack could not provide adequate support. Sohail Tanvir has been mediocre in the last two matches, and Pakistan may consider bringing in Anwar Ali as a replacement. They are almost certain to leave the firing top order untouched.

In the opposing camp, Kulasekara has eight more wickets than Malinga this year, at an average of 25.33 to Malinga's 30.02. Kulasekara's economy rate is also significantly better at 4.64 to Malinga's 5.34.

So it is going to be the bowlers' day today to show their mettle to favour their camp in winning the series.

Opposing Teams:
Pakistan squad
Misbah-ul-Haq*, Abdur Rehman, Ahmed Shehzad, Anwar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Bilawal Bhatti, Haris Sohail, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Sharjeel Khan, Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Akmal†, Umar Gul

Sri Lanka squad
AD Mathews*, LD Chandimal, TM Dilshan, FDM Karunaratne, KMDN Kulasekara, RAS Lakmal, SL Malinga, BAW Mendis, MDKJ Perera†, NLTC Perera, S Prasanna, SMA Priyanjan, KC Sangakkara†, SMSM Senanayake, HDRL Thirimanne, KDK Vithanage

Umpires JD Cloete and Shozab Raza

South Africa v Pakistan: 3rd ODI | Watch Free Live Streaming - 30 Nov

The jubilant visiting Pakistan's cricket team, after winning the ongoing ODI series 2-0, plays the third match against hosts South Africa at SuperSport Park, Centurion Saturday, 30 November today morning in a bid to whitewash the 3-ODI series and become only the second team to whitewash South Africa in an ODI series of three matches.

Pakistan has already become the first Asian team to have clinched the ODI series from the South Africans right on their home grounds. For Pakistan, which lost the 5-ODI series against Proteas in UAE 4-1, this is a great achievement and morale booster.

For today's match hosts will be missing Kallis and Steyn because of their injuries and their absence may hurt the team badly in winning the last ODI and escape a humiliation of a ODI series whitewash.

However, weather stands in Pakistan's way by afternoon thunderstorms which have come down all week and are forecast for Saturday, as it may spoil Pakistan's goal of series whitewash - and blessing in disguise for the hosts.

Squads:
South Africa: AB de Villiers*, HM Amla, H Davids, Q de Kock†, JP Duminy, Imran Tahir, R McLaren, DA Miller, M Morkel, WD Parnell, VD Philander, LL Tsotsobe

Pakistan: Abdur Rehman, Ahmed Shehzad, Anwar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Bilawal Bhatti, Junaid Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez, Nasir Jamshed, Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Akmal†, Umar Amin

Umpires CB Gaffaney and S George

The match is scheduled for November 30 at SuperSport Park, Centurion at 10:00 local time (08:00 GMT)

Pakistan vs South Africa: A tit for tat 3rd ODI win for South Africa

South Africa's Imran Tahir celebrates his wicket with Villiers
Having levelled the five ODI series 1-1, Pakistan met South Africa Wednesday for the third ODI at Sheikh Zayed Stadium Abu Dhabi and met a charged Imran Tahir who wrecked their batting line to bring victory to South Africa.

Batting first, South Africa gave a tall target of 260 to Pakistan to chase. And as is usual with Pakistan cricket team, their batting line performed miserably to chase the target.  Jean-Paul Duminy and Faf du Plessis scored half centuries to take the target to 260.

When it came to Pakistan to bat, South African leg spinner Imran Tahir took a heavy toll of the Pakistani batsmen and took four wickets for 53 to dismantle the opposing camp. Pakistan was all out for 191 in 44.3 and lost the match by 68 runs.

It was rather interesting to see tail ender bowlers like Wahab Riaz and Souhail Tanvir standing on the crease and playing more responsibly than the ace batsmen. Wahab Riaz, who top-scored with 33, added 61 for the eighth wicket with Sohail Tanvir (31)- but their stand could not undo the bad spell the batsmen had left behind earlier.

Although Leg-spinner Shahid Afridi (2-40) derailed the innings by dismissing De Kock and Du Plessis in quick succession, both stumped, but he could not bat well and was back in pavilion for mere six runs. Paceman Mohammad Irfan finished with 3-45 in his 10 overs.

The stunning win gives South Africa a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Both teams will meet again at the same venue on Friday before the series is rounded off in Sharjah on Monday.

Pakistan v South Africa: 3rd ODI - Abu Dhabi | Watch Free Live Streaming - 6 Nov

Pakistan meets South Africa for their 3rd ODI at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi Wednesday today having levelled the 5-ODI series 1-1.

South Africans get their morale boosted as Hashim Amla joins back after missing the first two ODIs as otherwise its limited-overs batsmen have failed to adapt to the UAE conditions, and look lost against Pakistan's spinners.

Ppakistan's Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Hafeez all will continue to addcontinuing to cause problems, one of AB de Villiers, JP Duminy or Faf du Plessis need to step up.

Pakistan too is suffering due to faltering in the middle. Umar Amin and Umar Akmal are yet to make meaningful contributions. Likewise, Nasir Jamshed's continual failings at the top may prompt an experimentation with Sohaib Maqsood, while Wahab Riaz's place in the team will also be questioned.

Squads

Pakistan: Misbah-ul-Haq*, Abdur Rehman, Ahmed Shehzad, Asad Shafiq, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Irfan, Nasir Jamshed, Saeed Ajmal, Sarfraz Ahmed†, Shahid Afridi, Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Akmal†, Umar Amin, Wahab Riaz

South Africa: AB de Villiers*†, HM Amla, Q de Kock†, JP Duminy, F du Plessis, Imran Tahir, R McLaren, DA Miller, M Morkel, WD Parnell, RJ Peterson, VD Philander, GC Smith, DW Steyn, LL Tsotsobe

Watch Live West Indies v Pakistan at Gros Islet: 3rd ODI | Free Live Streaming - 19 July

After a 1-1 5-ODI series equal, the visiting Pakistan team meet hosts West Indies at Gros Islet for their third encounter Friday today.

The second ODI saw the hosts rebounding from a humiliating defeat to a comfortable victory, thanks to the Bravo brothers' superb batting and dismal performance of Pakistani bowlers who aided the hosts with 38 extras to win the match.

In fact, unlike previous matches, the Pakistani batsmen played better than their reputation of crumblings like pack of cards, but it was the bowlers whose sloppy and loose bowling add devastating 38 extras - otherwise even Bravo brothers could not have saved the second ODI.

The probable teams line up for today's match are as under:

Pakistan: 1 Nasir Jamshed, 2 Ahmed Shehzad, 3 Mohammad Hafeez, 4 Misbah-ul-Haq (capt), 5 Asad Shafiq, 6 Umar Akmal (wk), 7 Shahid Afridi, 8 Wahab Riaz, 9 Asad Ali/Junaid Khan, 10 Saeed Ajmal, 11 Mohammad Irfan

West Indies: 1 Chris Gayle, 2 Johnson Charles (wk), 3 Darren Bravo, 4 Lendl Simmons, 5 Marlon Samuels, 6 Dwayne Bravo (capt), 7 Kieron Pollard, 8 Darren Sammy, 9 Kemar Roach, 10 Sunil Narine, 11 Jason Holder

What happens today is yet to be seen but Pakistan have an unbeaten record in ODIs at St Lucia, beating West Indies on all four occasions. But for today, Pakistani bowlers must learn from their mistakes and play responsibly and not add extras in tons. And their batsmen should also be cautious while playing Narine.

The boom boom Afridi needs just three more sixes today for his 400 international sixes - would he do it?

Let us watch the match live from Gros Islet at July 19, 2013 (09:00 local | 13:00 GMT | 18:00 PST)

England beat Australia by 48 Runs: ICC Champions Trophy 3rd ODI

England beat Australia by 48 runs in the 3rd ODI of the ICC Champions Trophy Group A match Saturday tonight at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

England which won the toss, chose to bat and scored 269/9 in fifty overs. Bell scored impressive 91, followed by Bopara's 46 and Cooks 30. JP Faulkner bowled Bell and Butler for 48.

Coming to bat, the Australian squad found it difficult to stand before the English bowlers. Only Bailey (55) and Faulkner (54) added substantial runs - while most of the Australians were back home under 20 or rather 10. Anderson took 3 for 30 while Bresnan took 2 for 45.

Australia vs England: ICC Champions Trophy - 3rd ODI - Group A | Watch Live Free Streaming - 8 June

The third ODI of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy is being played between Australia and England from Group A at Edgbaston, Birmingham Saturday morning today.

Australia is in a state of crisis - an irredeemable batting display saw them bowled out for 65 by India and, to make matters worse, the chronic back complaint that ruled their captain, Michael Clarke out of this match, has yet to respond to treatment.

As for England, it will find it a welcome change to be playing somebody different from New Zealand. They beat them 2-1 in New Zealand then lost by the same scoreline in England. It is time for a new challenge.

The likely opposing teams for the match are:
Australia squad
MJ Clarke*, GJ Bailey, NM Coulter-Nile, XJ Doherty, JP Faulkner, PJ Hughes, MG Johnson, CJ McKay, MR Marsh, GJ Maxwell, MA Starc, AC Voges, MS Wade†, DA Warner, SR Watson

England squad
AN Cook*, JM Anderson, JM Bairstow, IR Bell, RS Bopara, TT Bresnan, SCJ Broad, JC Buttler†, ST Finn, EJG Morgan, JE Root, GP Swann, JC Tredwell, IJL Trott, CR Woakes

Umpires HDPK Dharmasena and M Erasmus

As for the pitch and weather conditions, England is enjoying one of its most settled spells of summer weather in recent years and it is set to continue over the weekend. That could negate the threat of two new balls as batting conditions are more comfortable than anticipated. The bowlers can expect some more unsettled weather, especially in Cardiff, reports cricinfo.

The match is scheduled on Saturday, 8 June (09:30 GMT) | at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Watch Live a likely series whitewash: 3rd ODI between South Africa-New Zealand: Free Streaming | 25 January

The touring New Zealand cricket team comes face to face with their hosts in the third ODI that begins Friday today at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.

Having won the two earlier ODIs, it will be rare opportunity for the visitors to whitewash the series  right there on the soil of their hosts.

When the Visitors lost the test series, everyone was skeptic about their performance in the ODIs - but the ODIs have shown a different and resilient face of the New Zealanders who have completely takena u-turn from their test series performance and have dominated the South Africans.

The last time New Zealand won a three-match series 3-0 against a major team was in 2006-07, when they beat Australia at home. However, South Africa have never lost all the matches of a three-match series at home and it is expected that are going to come back into the game and avert a whitewash humiliation.

The possible oppsoing squads for the 1st ODI:
South Africa:
F du Plessis*, F Behardien, Q de Kock†, D Elgar, CA Ingram, RK Kleinveldt, R McLaren, DA Miller, M Morkel, RJ Peterson, AM Phangiso, GC Smith, DW Steyn, LL Tsotsobe

New Zealand:
BB McCullum*, TA Boult, GD Elliott, JEC Franklin, MJ Guptill, RM Hira, MJ McClenaghan, NL McCullum, KD Mills, C Munro, JDS Neesham, RJ Nicol, N Wagner, BJ Watling†, KS Williamson

Umpires Enamul Haque and AT Holdstock

The Test match is scheduled on Tuesday, 22 January at 14:30 local time (12:30 GMT) at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.

Saeed Ajmals's 5-24 could not save match for Pakistan - India escapes whitewash by 10 runs

What a hair raising match it was - the third and last ODI between Pakistan and India at Feroz Shah Kotla- Delhi Sunday today.

Saeed Ajmal celebrates his 5th Indian wicket

India which were all back in the pavilion for 167, were mercilessly ousted one by one by Saeed Ajmal for he took 5 wickets for his career best 5/24 - an improvement of his 5/43 earlier record. Saeed Ajmal was joined by Irfan who took for 28, beside one each by Gul, Junaid and Hafeez. None of the Indian batsmen crossed 40s, while the openers crumbled even under 20s.

India lost its openers one after the other at 19 (Rahane), 29(Ghambir), 37 (Kohli) and 63 (Yuvraj). This left Dhoni once again at the helms of the affiar who added valuable 36 before succumbing to Umer Gul.

-->

Coming to bat Pakistan lost Kamran Akmal for duck when the score was 3. That was a setback to start a match. Younis too went back for a paltry six runs. It was Nasir again who added 34 but was unlucky for an lbw. Misbah for a change played responsibly and added 39. Umer Akmal joined hands with Hafeez and scored 25, but Hafeez this time played rather slow which in fact resulted into a 10 runs defeat.

Sharma (3/36) followed by Kumar (2/31) and Ashwin (2/47) proved too fatal for Pakistan and restricted them to 10 runs short of the whitewash they feared the most at the hands of Pakistan right in their own country.

Dhoni was adjudged as the man of the match for standing put at a critical juncture when all leading batsmen had gone back. But like Dhoni was given man of the match even when India lost, it would have been much better to honour Saeed Ajmal for his devastating 5-24 bowling as the man of the match. Nasir Jamshed was declared as the man of the series for his superb batting in all the three ODIs.

Watch Live 3rd ODI between India and Pakistan: Free Streaming | Delhi - 6 January 2013

The recent visit of the Pakistan cricket team to India to bridge the long lost sports links with the hosts has cost very dearly to the hosts right in front of their own crowd on their own grounds. Although the two matches series (could hardly be called a series) of T20Is ended in a 1-1 stalemate, the ODIs have been devastating for Dhoni Inc.

Both ODIs have resulted into humiliation for the hosts, specially when Dhoni and Yuvraj had told the press before the matches that they would maul the Pakistan cricket team - this was done very loud and clear. But they had to lick every word they said about Pakistan's cricket team and its ability.

Now Pakistan dominating the Indians with a 2-0 series win, meet their hosts for the third ODI at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi on Sunday.

Would there be anyone to watch the match- specially when India fear a whitewash of the series - something that only West Indies has done to the Indians. Besides, Pakistan and Australia are the only teams to have beaten India in a home ODI series in the last 10 years.

Well I hope so as this would be the last appearance of the visitors on India for the time being.

The possible oppsoing squads for the third ODI at Dehli are:
India squad
MS Dhoni*†, R Ashwin, AB Dinda, G Gambhir, RA Jadeja, V Kohli, B Kumar, A Mishra, AM Rahane, SK Raina, V Sehwag, Shami Ahmed, I Sharma, RG Sharma, Yuvraj Singh

Pakistan squad
Misbah-ul-Haq*, Anwar Ali, Azhar Ali, Haris Sohail, Imran Farhat, Junaid Khan, Kamran Akmal†, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Irfan, Nasir Jamshed, Saeed Ajmal, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Umar Gul, Wahab Riaz, Younis Khan, Zulfiqar Babar

Shouldn't this be time Pakistan too think about bidding farewell to Azhar and aging Misbah who have not been of any help to the team so far?

The 3rd ODI is scheduled for Sunday 6 January 2013 at 12:00 local time (06:30 GMT) at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.
