South Africa's Jacques Kallis, one of the  greatest all-rounders, scored his 45th and last test century in his farewell test match against India at Durban.

The 38-year-old posted a defiant 115 runs on Sunday as South Africa piled up 500 against India in the second Test of the series in Durban.

This century brings him at par Barry Richards, PGV van der Bijl and BL Irvine to have scored a century in the last test match for South Africa.

His 45th century is next only to master blaster Sachin Tendulkar's 51 Test centuries. This is his 7th century against India. He scored 100 runs off 273 balls. Also, among those players who have played more than 100 Test matches, Kallis is the first to end his career with a century. 

Kallis has also overtaken Rahul Dravid as the third-highest Test scorer with 13289 runs.

South Africa draws first test against India - thanks to South Africans' slow and safe strategy

While many thought that South Africa will finally win over the visiting Indians in the first test match on the tricky Wanderers pitch,  Johannesburg  the match ended in a draw.

The slow running in the end of the match was perhaps part of the South Africans' tactics. However, the home crowd did not like the slow paced game as loud boos echoed around the ground for every refused run. South Africa had 16 to get off the last three overs and had shut shop. The fans were asking why.

After the match, South Africa's captain supported Vernon Philander and Dale Steyn's decision to play it safe, in the face of criticism from the crowd and former players - but he was not convincing  Nor was Graeme Smith who tried to explain that the decision was made by the two batsmen at the crease and was not a team order. 

One critic has been quoted as saying:
"I couldn't believe SA shut up shop either, an appalling end to a test match. More of a flop than a thriller. Australia will be ruthless against SA if they play with this roll over mindset. India were patient and AB and Faf were very good but SA should have tried to win the game. 16 off 20 is hardly a tall order."

This was the third-closest draw in Tests in terms of runs remaining. There have been two instances of teams drawing a Test with just one run remaining, which are the closest of draws in Tests. England drew against Zimbabwe with one remaining in Bulawayo in 1996 and India against West Indies in Mumbai in 2011. The 136 overs that South Africa played in their fourth innings was the seventh-highest ever played in the fourth innings of a Test in South Africa and the highest South Africa have played at home since the 144 overs against New Zealand in Port Elizabeth in 1962. This was also the fourth-highest number of overs South Africa have played in the fourth innings to draw a Test.

South Africa beat India yet again to win ODI series

The century makers: De Kock 106 and Hasim Amla 100

Having thrashed visiting Indian team by 141 runs in the first ODI, the hosts South Africa did not hesitate to seal their victory over the ongoing ODIs by beating India yet again by 134 runs at Dublin on Sunday.

Indians, ho have been playing for long comfortably on their home grounds, got seriosuly exposed when they came to South Africa to play the Africans.

South Africa, batting first, gave a tall chase target of 281 to the Indians with centuries by De Kock 106 and Hasim Amla 100. Shami took 3-48 for India.

A drizzle began to drip in the 16th over and South Africa brought on JP Duminy to speed things up and get to 20 overs. The rain grew heavier in the 19th over and Vernon Philander was racing back to his mark to complete it. With the fifth ball, he had Dhoni push at one just outside off, de Kock dived to his right and took the catch one-handed to end the Indian challenge.

However, coming to bat, the Indians were off guard right from the outset and were all out for 146. By 34 runs, four Indian wickets had fallen. Raina was the only Indian batsman who score 36 - while the rest were all out below 20, with Jadeja's 26. Tsotsobe 4-25 and Steyn 3-17 did not let the Indians to go beyond 146 and the hosts won the match by by 134 runs.

Q de Kock (South Africa) was declared as player of the match.

Indian now plays the 3rd ODI against South Africa at Centurion on Dec 11, 2013.

South Africa thrash India to wn first ODI by by 141 runs

Q de Kock celebrates his second ODI century

The Pink-Floyds beat the hell out of the visiting Indian cricket team when they thrashed the visitors and won the first ODI by 141 runs at Johannesburg.

India, winning the toss, chose to field and must have regretted the decision  South Africa's Q de Kock smashed 135, his second ODI century, followed by impressive scoring by AB de Villiers (77) and Hashim Amla (65). At the end of the play, South Africa were 358 for four with Duminy (59) and Miller (7) still on the crease. From Indian camp, Shami took 3/68.

Coming to bat, India was in trouble as Steyn and McLaren struck the visitors with full fury and took three wickets each. Except for captain Dhoni who scored 65, none could gobeyond 30 except Kohli who dared 31. India were all out for mere 217 - losing the match by 141 runs.

Q de Kock (South Africa) was declared Player of the match for his impressive century.

The 2nd ODI between South Africa and India will be played at Durban on December 8.

Pakistan beat South Africa in 2nd ODI - Becomes first Asian Team Ever to Win ODI Series in South Africa

What a sensational match it was today at Port Elizabeth  South Africa, where Pakistan having won the first ODI at Cape Town was playing to win the match and the three matches ODI series 2-0. And boy they just did it and won the match by ONE RUN!! 

Pakistan thus became first Asian team to win an ODI series in South Africa. That really was sensational and very good cricket indeed.

South Africa won the toss and elected to field. Pakistan batting first gave a target of 262 to the hosts. Despite Steyn taking six wickets, Pakistan was able to give  rather tall target to South Africa - though chase-able. It was Pakistan's Shehzad who scored mighty 102. Maqsood and Akmal also added valuable 42 each to give a target of 262 to the hosts.

In fact Ahmed Shehzad's third ODI century and the 124-run stand he had with Sohaib Maqsood for the third wicket set Pakistan up to challenge for their first ever bilateral series win over South Africa. Umar Akmal, who was involved in Shehzad being run out, provided the late flourish, as Pakistan scored 82 in the final ten overs of a shortened game, despite Dale Steyn taking career-best figures.

When it came to South Africa to bat, they did it magnificently too with Amla scoring 98, Villiers 74 and Kock 47. The match ended into a hair raising finish when it was 8 runs and one over to go. Junaid was the most successful bowler who took three wickets, followed by Afridi with two.

Shehzad was declared man of the match for his superb 102.

Pakistan beats South Africa in an 'All Bowlers' 1st ODI

Pakistan beat South Africa at Cape Town for the first time and in the three- matches ODI series by 23 runs in an 'ALL Bowlers' match, Sunday today.

Batting first, Pakistani batsmen once again demonstrated their hopeless batting and were 131/7 with the ouster of Afridi at 26. At this abysmal stage came the two youngster bowlers Anwar Ali and Bilawal Bhatti who played more maturely than all the batsmen and added 43 and 39 respectively to take the Pakistan total at the end to 218.

When it came to South African batting, it was an all bowlers day as all bowlers performed magnificently and won the match for Pakistan. Bilawal Bhatti took three wickets while Ajmal and Anwar took two each. Beside, Afridi, Junaid and Hafeez took one each.

Anwar Ali for his brilliant performance (43 runs not out) and two wickets was declared man of the match award. He was closely contested by Bilawal Bhatti (39 runs and three wickets).

Pakistan, leading the ODI series 1-0, would play its second match at Port Elizabeth on 27th November.

Pakistan beat South Africa to Draw T20I series

We have condemned Pakistani batsman more than enough. But at Cap Town Friday night, Pakistan batsmen recoiled and gave a good target of 176/4 for the hosts South Africans to chase.

And their spinners, specially Afridi and Ajmal made sure they restrict the hosts and win the match by six runs.

Batting first, Pakistan's 102-run stand between Mohammad Hafeez and Umar Akmal's 64 allowed Pakistan to put on their most competitive batting display in limited-overs matches against South Africa in the last month and break a six-match winless streak. 

Hafeez seemed to be in control of his squad and was seen very active on the field. As someone commented, "Hafeez is much better captain than Misbah because he comes up with fresh ideas about game plan. He gives chance to every player in squad, tries different bowling combinations, is very energetic in field and his field placements are better. Having said that there were some flaws too. He should give new ball to Junaid Khan. He should never send Afridi up the order."

Coming to bat, the South Africans had a flying start till their batsmen were was halted by Pakistan's spinners, led by Shahid Afridi who took the first three wickets. Bilawal Bhatti, in just his second match, showed the variations needed to stem the run flow of runs so that even a 34-run blitz in two overs by David Miller and JP Duminy at the end was not enough, with Sohail Tanvir bowling low full tosses at the death.

Towards the end, it was Sohail Tanvir who took the pace off while keeping his length full to ensure Pakistan squared the series and moved up to No.4 on the rankings. South Africa have dropped from second to third.

The two teams now meet at Cape Town Sunday24 November  for the first of the 3-ODI series match.

Their batting collapses have become the source of serious concern as poor shot selection and lack of application continues to haunt them. They need someone to bat through, another few to bat with him, partnerships to form and more resistance put up. In short, they need more dedication and more fight. Pakistan need to bat with more responsibility, like Umar Akmal did.

In the first match, neither Ahmed Shehzad nor Sohaib Maqsood was successful at the top of the order so Mohammad Hafeez may consider returning there despite the prospect of having to face Steyn early on. Nasir Jamshed may also come into contention if Maqsood is dropped. The middle order should remain the same but Abdur Rehman could find himself out of the XI. Mohammad Irfan is due a break and may make way for Junaid Khan.

What has this match for both the teams: If South Africa win the series 2-0, they will go up to No.2 on the ICC T20 rankings, from their current position of fifth. If Pakistan manage to square the series 1-1, they will stay second, with South Africa staying at fifth place.

The last of the 5-ODI series match was held at famous Sharjha cricket stadium where Javed Miandad once scored a mighty six to bring unbelievable victory to Pakistan.

But those were other times and other players.

The present lot of Pakistani batsmen are a different breed - they talk too much and score too less. 

It was thought that Pakistan, having lost the series to the South Africans 3-1, will play for pride and display the last of their best - but it was not to be again. Chasing a target of 268, Pakistan was all out for 151 in just  35.3 Overs ( 4.25 RPO )- losing the match by 117 runs.

Pakistan's only resistance came from Sohaib Maqsood, who notched up a second, successive half-century with clean hitting and clear thinking. He demonstrated his strength off the back foot but exposed a slight weakness against the short ball, which South Africa will look to exploit in the return series later this month.

AB de Villiers was declared the Man of the Match for his match-winning knock of 115, who also became the became the fastest South African to 6000 ODI runs.

Ryan McLaren was the Man of the Series for his all-round effort. He scored 105 runs and took 9 wickets.

Pakistan v South Africa: 5th ODI - Sharjah | Watch Free Live Streaming - 11 Nov

South Africa beats Pakistan in 4th ODI - wins series 3-1

Quinton de Kock's maiden century ensured South Africa's victory

Pakistan's batting line once again crumbled in the crucial 4th ODI at Sheikh Zayed Stadium Abu Dhabi Friday when it was beaten by the South Africa by 28 runs.

South Africa's Dale Steyn took a heavy toll of the leading Pakistani batsmen and perfected his career best record for 5-25.

Batting first, South Africa's Quinton de Kock smashed his maiden century. Left-handed opening batsman de Kock hit 112 to anchor South Africa to series-best total of 266-5.

From Pakistan's side, debutant Sohaib Maqsood kept Pakistan in the hunt with 56 off 54 balls before Steyn’s burst saw Pakistan losing its last five wickets for just 10 runs.

The last match of the series will be played at Sharjah on Monday - a match which is now being dubbed as a dead rubber.

Pakistan v South Africa: Crucial 4th ODI - Abu Dhabi | Watch Free Live Streaming - 8 Nov

Pakistan meets South Africa the crucial fourth ODI at Sheikh Zayed Stadium Abu Dhabi Friday afternoon today in a must-win match, before the series wraps up in Sharjah on November 11.

While the South Africans have a strong batting line, specially after the return of Hashim Amla, Pakistan suffers from its chronic problem of irresponsible batsmen who crumble like pack of cards whenever a challenge is faced. 

The third ODI was terrible example of poor batting line of Pakistan. Chasing a target of 260, Pakistani top order batsmen could score only 116 for seven. It was only the two bowlers, Wahab Riaz and Sohail Tanvir, who added valuable 61 runs and taking the score to a face saving 191 - but what more can you expect from bowlers. The bowled well but batsmen always failed them.

"It's the same old story," Misbah said. "I think we need to think about our batting if we want to save the series. Our batsmen get starts but are not able to convert them into big scores, and we all have to think that 20s and 30s are not going to win matches for us."

Although Misbah is holding on good and playing well, he seems to have chosen a weak team - as he always does. Afridi is bowling well but his batting is agaion as unpredicatable as ever - coming back to pavilion with a long face.


Unless Pakistan's batting line performs, it is more than likely that the opposing camp will be able to dominate the series. Like Saeed Ajmal, they will have to be beware of Imran Tahir, whose 4-53 dismantled their ace batsmen.

Pakistan vs South Africa: A tit for tat 3rd ODI win for South Africa

South Africa's Imran Tahir celebrates his wicket with Villiers

Having levelled the five ODI series 1-1, Pakistan met South Africa Wednesday for the third ODI at Sheikh Zayed Stadium Abu Dhabi and met a charged Imran Tahir who wrecked their batting line to bring victory to South Africa. 

Batting first, South Africa gave a tall target of 260 to Pakistan to chase. And as is usual with Pakistan cricket team, their batting line performed miserably to chase the target.  Jean-Paul Duminy and Faf du Plessis scored half centuries to take the target to 260.

When it came to Pakistan to bat, South African leg spinner Imran Tahir took a heavy toll of the Pakistani batsmen and took four wickets for 53 to dismantle the opposing camp. Pakistan was all out for 191 in 44.3 and lost the match by 68 runs.

It was rather interesting to see tail ender bowlers like Wahab Riaz and Souhail Tanvir standing on the crease and playing more responsibly than the ace batsmen. Wahab Riaz, who top-scored with 33, added 61 for the eighth wicket with Sohail Tanvir (31)- but their stand could not undo the bad spell the batsmen had left behind earlier.

Although Leg-spinner Shahid Afridi (2-40) derailed the innings by dismissing De Kock and Du Plessis in quick succession, both stumped, but he could not bat well and was back in pavilion for mere six runs. Paceman Mohammad Irfan finished with 3-45 in his 10 overs.

The stunning win gives South Africa a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Both teams will meet again at the same venue on Friday before the series is rounded off in Sharjah on Monday.

Pakistan too is suffering due to faltering in the middle. Umar Amin and Umar Akmal are yet to make meaningful contributions. Likewise, Nasir Jamshed's continual failings at the top may prompt an experimentation with Sohaib Maqsood, while Wahab Riaz's place in the team will also be questioned.
