Pakistan hosts Sri Lanka for the second cricket test match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium (neutral venue) from January 8-12, starting Wednesday today.
Both teams played a drawn first test match at Abu Dhabi last week, despite Pakistan's superb first innings and bowling that contained the Lankans in their first innings. But it was the second innings in which Sri Lankan team showed much resilience and gave a tall score to chase - which due to scarcity of time, Pakistan was unable to chase and the macth ended in a draw.
The pitch in Dubai is expected to turn and likely to help the spinners. Pakistan's ace spinner, who could not get anything in the first test as the p[itch was non-cooperting for the spinners. Ajmal's 49 wicketless overs in the second innings in Abu Dhabi gave the visiting batsmen an extended view of his variations. But it is expected that Dubai pitch will be spinner friendly and Arnold and Ajmal are likely to shine. Saeed Ajmal has 34 wickets in Dubai at 20.11. Rangana Herath has three at 39.33.
As many as five Test matches have been played at Dubai International Stadium with four ending up with a result. With the series locked at 0-0, a draw obviously will not be a satisfying result for both teams.
The probable opposing teams for the second test match at Dubai may be as under:
Pakistan: Misbah-ul-Haq*, Abdur Rehman, Adnan Akmal†, Ahmed Shehzad, Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali, Junaid Khan, Khurram Manzoor, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Talha, Rahat Ali, Saeed Ajmal, Shan Masood, Umar Gul, Younis Khan
Sri Lanka: AD Mathews*, LD Chandimal, RMS Eranga, N Pradeep, MVT Fernando, HMRKB Herath, DPMD Jayawardene, HAPW Jayawardene†, FDM Karunaratne, KMDN Kulasekara, RAS Lakmal, MDK Perera, MDKJ Perera, KC Sangakkara, SMSM Senanayake, JK Silva
Umpires BNJ Oxenford and S Ravi

After a sensational ending of the first ODI at Sharjha which Pakistan won by 11 runs, both Pakistan and Sri Lanka play the second of the five ODI series at Dubai International Cricket Stadium Friday afternoon today.
It seemed as if the Pakistani batsmen have started to gain confidence as was evident from their performance in the first ODI. Hafeez showed his immense form by scoring 122, while ODI débutante Sharjeel and Sohaib Maqsood showed their muscles.
As for bowling, Pakistan's bowlers will have to aim to be less wayward in the second match, after having allowed indiscipline to creep in towards the later stages of Sri Lanka's innings. Their fielding too, slipped from poor to abysmal in the last hour, much to the chagrin of Misbah-ul-Haq who had warned against exactly that kind of complacency before the match. They know now that Sri Lanka are among the more dangerous teams to ease off on.
The Islanders on the other side should not have any problems as even Seekkuge Prasanna and Sachithra Senanayake hit the highest eighth-wicket stand ever in Sharjah, who chased a target which many thought was not possible to meet.
Opposing Teams:Pakistan squadMisbah-ul-Haq*, Abdur Rehman, Ahmed Shehzad, Anwar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Bilawal Bhatti, Haris Sohail, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Sharjeel Khan, Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Akmal†
Sri Lanka squadAD Mathews*, LD Chandimal, TM Dilshan, FDM Karunaratne, KMDN Kulasekara, RAS Lakmal, SL Malinga, BAW Mendis, MDKJ Perera†, NLTC Perera, S Prasanna, SMA Priyanjan, KC Sangakkara†, SMSM Senanayake, HDRL Thirimanne, KDK Vithanage
Umpires Ahsan Raza and RK Illingworth
The match is scheduled for Friday, December 20, 2013 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium at 1500 local (1100 GMT)

Pakistan, having beaten the Sri Lankans in the first T20I by three wickets, plays its second T20I against the Islanders at Dubai International Cricket Stadium Friday 13 December tonight.
The performance of Pakistan team clearly showed that though Sri Lanka may be the top-ranked Twenty20 side for now, Pakistan were clearly the better-drilled and more fluent outfit, after their tough series against South Africa.
The winning of first T20I was largely attributed to Shahid Afridi's superb batting, which recently had witnessed a decline. However, it seems that he is now concentrating on batting as well, beside his bowling.
"In the last four-five years, I've been focusing on my bowling. But I know how important my batting is for us, and I have to thank Mohammad Hafeez, who keeps saying, "You're still the best. Keep going and play your natural game," said Afridi after the first T20I.
If Pakistan win this match, they become the No. 1 ranked T20I side in the world, sending Sri Lanka to second alongside India and South Africa.
Opposing Teams:Pakistan squad: Mohammad Hafeez*, Usman Khan, Ahmed Shehzad, Anwar Ali, Bilawal Bhatti, Haris Sohail, Junaid Khan, Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Sharjeel Khan, Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Akmal†, Umar Amin, Zulfiqar Babar
Sri Lanka squad: LD Chandimal*, TM Dilshan, KMDN Kulasekara, RAS Lakmal, SL Malinga, AD Mathews, BAW Mendis, MDKJ Perera, NLTC Perera, S Prasanna, RLB Rambukwella, KC Sangakkara†, SMSM Senanayake, HDRL Thirimanne, KDK Vithanage
Umpires Ahsan Raza and Zameer Haider
The match is scheduled for December 13 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium at (20:00 local | 16:00 GMT | 21:00 PKT)

Pakistan, after a successful South African tour, moves to UAE yet again to paly a series of matches against Sri Lanka.
To begin with both teams face each other Wednesday evening today for their firt T20I day/night (20-over match) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Both teams will play two T20Is and three ODIs during their stay in UAE.
Pakistan are fresh from limited-overs success in South Africa, where they won the second of the two Twenty20s, and two of the three ODIs. Pakistan also defeated Afghanistan in Sharjah, three days prior to the series-opener against Sri Lanka.
It thus seems that Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara and captain Dinesh Chandimal are wary of Pakistan's form and confidence ahead of the first Twenty20 in Dubai.
"Pakistan has played two high-quality series both here and in South Africa, so we know it's going to be tough. They know these conditions well," Sangakkara said.
Opposing Teams:Pakistan squad:Mohammad Hafeez*, Usman Khan, Ahmed Shehzad, Anwar Ali, Bilawal Bhatti, Haris Sohail, Junaid Khan, Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Sharjeel Khan, Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Akmal†, Umar Amin, Zulfiqar Babar
Sri Lanka squad:LD Chandimal*, TM Dilshan, KMDN Kulasekara, RAS Lakmal, SL Malinga, AD Mathews, BAW Mendis, MDKJ Perera, NLTC Perera, S Prasanna, RLB Rambukwella, KC Sangakkara†, SMSM Senanayake, HDRL Thirimanne, KDK Vithanage
Umpires Ahsan Raza and Shozab Raza
The match is scheduled for December 11 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium at (20:00 local | 16:00 GMT | 21:00 PKT).

Pakistan cricket team plays its second T20I against South Africa at Dubai International Cricket Stadium Friday afternoon today and may try to win as a last chance it has to save its face.
Pakistani batsmen have performed miserably in the series agianst South Africa at the neutral venue in UAE and failed the bowlers yet again to bring defeat after defeat for the country.
Having lost the 5-ODI series 4-1, the first T20I was a debacle - They were all out for mere 98 runs, which the South Africans chased in just under 15 overs to win.
Therefore, it is up to Pakistan to make it more of a duel today. Their batting collapses have become the source of serious concern as poor shot selection and lack of application continues to haunt them. They need someone to bat through, another few to bat with him, partnerships to form and more resistance put up. In short, they need more dedication and more fight. Pakistan need to bat with more responsibility, like Umar Akmal did.
In the first match, neither Ahmed Shehzad nor Sohaib Maqsood was successful at the top of the order so Mohammad Hafeez may consider returning there despite the prospect of having to face Steyn early on. Nasir Jamshed may also come into contention if Maqsood is dropped. The middle order should remain the same but Abdur Rehman could find himself out of the XI. Mohammad Irfan is due a break and may make way for Junaid Khan.
What has this match for both the teams: If South Africa win the series 2-0, they will go up to No.2 on the ICC T20 rankings, from their current position of fifth. If Pakistan manage to square the series 1-1, they will stay second, with South Africa staying at fifth place.
Squads:Pakistan: Mohammad Hafeez*, Abdul Razzaq, Abdur Rehman, Ahmed Shehzad, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Nasir Jamshed, Saeed Ajmal, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Akmal†, Umar Amin
South Africa: F du Plessis*, HM Amla, H Davids, Q de Kock†, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Imran Tahir, R McLaren, DA Miller, M Morkel, WD Parnell, AM Phangiso, DW Steyn, LL Tsotsobe, D Wiese
Umpires Ahsan Raza and Zameer Haider
The match is scheduled for November 15 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium at 20:00 local time (16:00 GMT)

Pakistan meets South Africa at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium today for their second test match starting Wednesday 23 October today till 27th October.
Pakistan had stunned the world no.1s in the first test match when they beat the South Africans with almost an innings defeat as they needed just 40 runs in their second innings to win the first test match at Abu Dhabi neutral venue.
For the South Africans, this was a big blow as they had not lost a single test in three years and had won all their 15 test matches.
Interestingly, ten years ago yesterday, South Africa lost a Test match in Lahore. A week later they had been defeated in the series, after a drawn game in Faisalabad. They only went back to Pakistan once after that, four years later. Then, they won.
Squads

South Africa: GC Smith*, HM Amla, AB de Villiers†, JP Duminy, F du Plessis, D Elgar, Imran Tahir, JH Kallis, RK Kleinveldt, M Morkel, AN Petersen, RJ Peterson, VD Philander, DW Steyn, TL Tsolekile
