Pakistan equalizes ODI series 2-2 againt South Africa

As I said in my post yesterday that the 4th ODI is going to be crucial both for Pakistan and South Africa. And it did turn to be that way today.

While it was the endeavour of the hosts to give Pakistan a tall target to chase and in the process make their batsmen crumble early to win the ODI, the opposite happened.

Pakistan with 1-2 odd, badly needed to win the Kingsmead ODI and win the did as their batsmen and bowlers both did a tremendous job in restricting the hots from giving a un-chasable target while the batsmen had firm feet on ground to chase the given target.

Winning the toss, the hosts decided to bat - but bad luck struck as Amla was gone just for duck and so did Ingram. Although Villiers and Miller scored heavily, 75 and 67 respectively, rest of them did not put a supporting show and were back in pavilion for mere 234 runs. Pakistan's Irfan, Junaid and Ajmal bagged three wickets each.

Coming to bat, Pakistan's Hafeez was given out given out trying to block the throw and running in line of throw. He changed his position while running to block the throw with no score.

But then opener Imran Farhat and captain Misbah played a superb innings and scored 93 and 80 respectively. Afridi could not give repeat performance of the third ODI and was gone for 4. Pakistan, thanks to Imran and Misbah, surpassed the given target by a run more and won the match with a score of 236 by three wickets.

Misbah was declared player of the match for his supporting 80 runs that contributed to the winning of match for Pakistan.

Pakistan now plays the fifth and the final deciding ODI against South Africa on 24th March at Benoni.

South Africa vs Pakistan: the crucial 4th ODI - Watch Live Free Streaming | 21 March

The visiting Pakistan cricket team plays the 4th ODI of the five-ODI series Thursday at Durban against hosts South Africa.

Pakistan will have an edge due to massive support they await at Durban - something which may leave South Africa feeling up against it. Also Pakistan hold the record for the highest innings total at Kingsmead. Their 351 for 4 in the 2006-07 season included Shahid Afridi's score of 77 off 35 balls and they beat South Africa by 141 runs.
