Sunderland vs. Chelsea: Capital One Cup - Quarters | Watch Free Live Streaming - 17 December 2013

Chelsea plays in its third straight different competition and in its third game in seven days when it travels to the Stadium of Light on Tuesday to face Sunderland in the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.

The Blues (9-3-3, 30 points in English Premier League play) are coming off of a hard-fought 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday at Stamford Bridge in which Fernando Torres and Ramires scored for the home side to keep Chelsea in the thick of the race and comfortably near the top of the Premier League standings.

Sunderland (2-3-11 9 points) and manager Gus Poyet played West Ham United to an uneventful 0-0 draw on Saturday at Upton Park and now sits dangerously in 20th place, four points behind the next closest two clubs (Fulham, Crystal Palace) as the season approaches the halfway mark.

The Black Cats are appearing in the quarter-finals of this competition for the seventh time, and first since losing to Crystal Palace in 2000-01. While the Blues have reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup in 10 of the last 13 seasons. They have progressed in five of their nine previous ties in this run.

It may be added that in Tuesday’s other quarter-final match, Manchester City is at upstart Championship side Leicester City while on Wednesday, West Ham United travels to Tottenham Hotspur and Stoke City hosts Manchester United. So a Chelsea-City-Spurs-United final four is still a distinct possibility.

The Capital One Cup Quarters is being played between Sunderland - Chelsea on Tuesday Dec 17, 2013, kick-off 19:45 GMT/3:45 p.m. EDT/12:45 p.m. PDT at Stadium Of Light, Sunderland, England, United Kingdom.

England's captain Gerrard and defender Walker to miss England v Chile match

The international friendly match between England and Chile  scheduled for Friday 15th November at Wembley would be marred by the absence of England's captain Gerrard and defender Walker.

Both players are suffering from injuries that is the excuse for their absence form Wembly.

Captain and the midfielder Gerrard, 33, aggravated a hip injury in Liverpool's win over Fulham, while Spurs right-back Walker missed England training on Wednesday.

Earlier, Gerrard had hoped to be fit for the Chile match, describing the injury as "a bit of a niggle" after being withdrawn 66 minutes into Liverpool's 4-0 defeat of Fulham on Saturday.

Walker, who played the full 90 minutes as Spurs lost 1-0 to Newcastle on Sunday, is struggling with an unspecified injury and, along with Gerrard and striker Daniel Sturridge, the 23-year-old went through a recovery session away from the rest of the England squad on Wednesday.

England vs Australia: 4th ODI - Cardiff | Watch Free Live Streaming - 14 September

The ongoing four ODI series between England and Australia has been curtailed to three match contest after the abandonment at Edgbaston. And Saturday today we watch the match live from Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

Although the weather forecast has been predicted as 'decent' and  hopefully this match will be uninterrupted - but this time it is the pitch which is unpredictable. It has behaved differently for different matches - but it sure does favours quicker bowlers

As for the Australians, they have had win over Cardiff only once against Pakistan in 2001. As for the Englishmen  they have played six times at Cardiff but on only three occasions have they completed the match - the rest being rained off.

Of those three matches, England have won them all, including beating Australia by four wickets in 2010. This makes the match today interesting as England team with its rather new and inexperienced squad faces waning Australia team. Who dominates who - well we will know after a few hours.

And there is one thing more to today's ODI - George Bailey is 30 runs short of 1000 in ODIs. So let us see him completing his 1000 today.

The likely opposing squads are as under for today's match:
England:
EJG Morgan*, RS Bopara, JC Buttler†, MA Carberry, ST Finn, CJ Jordan, J Overton, KP Pietersen, WB Rankin, JE Root, BA Stokes, JC Tredwell, IJL Trott, LJ Wright

Australia:
MJ Clarke*, GJ Bailey, NM Coulter-Nile, JP Faulkner, Fawad Ahmed, AJ Finch, JR Hazlewood, PJ Hughes, MG Johnson, CJ McKay, SE Marsh, GJ Maxwell, AC Voges, MS Wade†, SR Watson

Umpires RJ Bailey and S Ravi

The match is scheduled to begin 14 September 2013 at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff at 10:15 local time (09:15 GMT)

One new comer in the top 10 slot is Uruguay which has jumped into the top 10 after rising five positions to seventh.

Belgium's rise continued as they moved up to sixth - a four-place improvement - but the biggest climbers of all inside the top 20 were the USA, who leapt from 19th to 13th.

England vs Australia: 1st Investec Test - Ashes 2013 | Watch Live Free Streaming - 10-14 July

The 1st Investec Test between the visiting Australian cricket team and hosts England begins at Trent Bridge, Nottingham from Wednesday today 10 July till 14th July.

The Ashes series that begins today, will spread over ten test matches  which will end in Sydney in early January. Although, England and Australia are only ranked three and four in the world, but it will be captivating to watch these two teams playing for the love of sports of cricket.

Ever wondered why we call this sporting event as Ashes?  Well BBC sums it very well:
Following England's first defeat by Australia on home soil at The Oval in August 1882, the Sporting Times carried a mock obituary of English cricket, which concluded that: "The body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia."

A sporting obsession was born and Ivo Bligh, England captain at the time, pledged to win back "the Ashes" on the return tour to Australia a few weeks later.
As for the pitch and weather conditions, both attacks are bracing themselves for a demanding bowling experience on a benign surface in what for England are comparatively warm conditions. Chris Read, the Nottinghamshire captain and former England keeper, has warned that traditional swing and seam has been less prominent this summer. Expect big first-innings scores, bags of reverse swing and spin and Broad turning red in the heat faster than most, reports cricinfo.

The likely opposing squads are as under:

England squad
AN Cook*, JM Anderson, JM Bairstow, IR Bell, TT Bresnan, SCJ Broad, ST Finn, G Onions, KP Pietersen, MJ Prior†, JE Root, GP Swann, IJL Trott

Australia squad
MJ Clarke*, BJ Haddin†, AC Agar, JM Bird, EJM Cowan, JP Faulkner, RJ Harris, PJ Hughes, UT Khawaja, NM Lyon, JL Pattinson, CJL Rogers, PM Siddle, SPD Smith, MA Starc, MS Wade†, DA Warner, SR Watson

Umpires Aleem Dar and HDPK Dharmasena

The match is scheduled on Wednesday 10 July to 14th July daily at (10:00 GMT) | at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

The first semi final of the ICC Champions Trophy is being played between England and South Africa at Kennington Oval, London Wednesday morning today.

While England came across more than convincing with their performance by topping the Group A, South Africa have diligently worked their way through Group B to make the semifinals cut - they are behind India in Group B.

England will try to cash on ther excellent bowling performance of James Anderson, who scalped eight wickets in three matches with 3/30 as his best figures in the tournament.

However, South African all-rounder Ryan McLaren is not far behind Anderson with eight wickets in three matches with 4/19 as his best bowling figures for the Proteas. But, with the return of their pace spearhead Dale Steyn into the squad, AB de Villiers' men pose a serious threat to the hosts.

England beat New Zealand to qualify for ICC CHampions Trophy Semis

England beat New Zealand by a tense 10-run win at Cardiff to qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy semis.

A target of 170 in a game delayed by five hours and reduced to 24 overs per side appeared well within the Kiwis' reach after England lost their last seven wickets for 28 runs.

But the hosts bowled splendidly, especially with the new ball, to restrict New Zealand to 159-8 despite Kane Williamson's valiant 67 off 54 balls.

A large portion of the credit for England's safe passage must go to Anderson, who claimed two key early wickets and finished with 3-32, while Ravi Bopara - their fifth bowler - numbered the dangerous Brendon McCullum in his haul of 2-26.

Should Sri Lanka beat Australia on Monday, England will qualify as runners-up and meet India in the last four at Cardiff on Thursday.

Sangakkara's unbeaten 134 hang England's ICC Trophy Hopes in Balance

When England gave a hefty target of 294, including fifties from Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott and Joe Root, to Sri Lanka in the ICC Champions Trophy match Thursday, every one thought England was in for sixth consecutive win at Oval.

But that was not be so!!

Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara's imperious century not only led his country to a seven-wicket victory at The Oval but also hang England's hopes of laying hands on the coveted trophy in balance.

Sangakkara's unbeaten 134 was also aided by a 30-ball half-century from Nuwan Kulasekara, that took Sri Lanka to their target of 294 with 17 balls to spare.

Sri Lanka, who were bowled out for 138 in their opening one-wicket defeat by New Zealand, will advance with victory over Australia on Monday.

Australia vs England: ICC Champions Trophy - 3rd ODI - Group A | Watch Live Free Streaming - 8 June

The third ODI of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy is being played between Australia and England from Group A at Edgbaston, Birmingham Saturday morning today.

Australia is in a state of crisis - an irredeemable batting display saw them bowled out for 65 by India and, to make matters worse, the chronic back complaint that ruled their captain, Michael Clarke out of this match, has yet to respond to treatment.

As for England, it will find it a welcome change to be playing somebody different from New Zealand. They beat them 2-1 in New Zealand then lost by the same scoreline in England. It is time for a new challenge.

The likely opposing teams for the match are:
Australia squad
MJ Clarke*, GJ Bailey, NM Coulter-Nile, XJ Doherty, JP Faulkner, PJ Hughes, MG Johnson, CJ McKay, MR Marsh, GJ Maxwell, MA Starc, AC Voges, MS Wade†, DA Warner, SR Watson

England squad
AN Cook*, JM Anderson, JM Bairstow, IR Bell, RS Bopara, TT Bresnan, SCJ Broad, JC Buttler†, ST Finn, EJG Morgan, JE Root, GP Swann, JC Tredwell, IJL Trott, CR Woakes

Umpires HDPK Dharmasena and M Erasmus

As for the pitch and weather conditions, England is enjoying one of its most settled spells of summer weather in recent years and it is set to continue over the weekend. That could negate the threat of two new balls as batting conditions are more comfortable than anticipated. The bowlers can expect some more unsettled weather, especially in Cardiff, reports cricinfo.

The match is scheduled on Saturday, 8 June (09:30 GMT) | at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

England vs Ireland: Watch Live First Match after 18 Years | Free Streaming - 29 May 2013

This is no Premier League or Champions League match to attract you - but the mere fact that both England and Ireland are playing after almost to decades is something that makes the match Wednesday evening unique and interesting - and that is why you MUST watch it.

The last time both the countries played was 1995 when the referee ordered both teams off the field just after 28 minutes of play due to  hooligans and emotionally charged crowd that threatened the match.

The match this evening offers a chance for England to demonstrate it has made progress in tamping down on violence among some its supporters, who earned an international reputation in the 1980s and '90s for hooliganism. The team came close to being thrown out of the 2000 European Championship after rioting in Belgium.

However, despite all optimism  tensions are high in London ahead of the exhibition match, which is being staged as part of the English Football Association's 150th anniversary celebrations.

The highlight of the match today is Ashley Cole who will skipper England against Ireland to mark his 100th cap - but will not perform any other captain's duties other than to lead the team out and wear the armband.

The match is scheduled for Wednesday 29 May at 19:00 GMT at the Wembley.
