Jubilant Radwanska |
While it would have been a dream come true for the World Number Two Maria Sharapova to win the Miami Masters Tennis tournament, World Number Four Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska ransacked her dreams to become the queen at Florida Saturday night.
Agnieszka Radwanska beat Maria Sharapova in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 to win the the Sony Ericsson Open women's single title. With this defeat, it is Maria's fourth final which she has not been able to win here at Miami, Florida USA. Although, Sharapova did pose a stiff resisitance in the first set, she could not much impress the Polish superstar, who clinched the second with much ease.
Agnieszka Radwanska, on the other hand has won her second title of the year and her ninth WTA title. She earlier won the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship. It may be added here that the Polish girl did not lose a single set at Miami and showed consistency and resilience to reach the top.
Needless to say the beaming overjoyed Radwanska was very very happy at this great victory:
“I’m just very, very happy that I have been able to play my best tennis since the beginning of the year. Let’s hope that I can continue. I will never be able to serve like Maria but I try different things and mix it up.”
Radwanska now aims to to push for a first grand slam title.
