Sharapova beats world no.1 Azarenka to face Williams in WTA Istanbul Final Sunday 28 October

So world no.1 Victoria Azarenka finally succumb to world no.2 Maria Sharapova in the semi final of WTA Istanbul 4-6, 2-6 Saturday today.

World no.1 Azarenka and world no.4 Radwanska ousted form Istanbul

Although Azarenka secured her no.1 ranking by beating Chinese Na Li Friday  she failed to beat Sharapova despite having had an upper edge of 7-4 over the Russian in their eleven previous encounters. Azarenka had recently beat Sharapova in the Beijing final 6-3, 6-1, a score that speaks how easily Azarenka overpowered Sharapova.

But today, it was different - rather reverse and revenge match by Sharapova who simply outclassed the world no.1 in starlight and easily won sets. Perhaps this loss saved Azarenka of being mauled by Serena in the finals as she did in the US Open recently.

In the other semifinal, US and Wimbledon champion and London Olympics Gold medalist American Serena Williams beat Radwanska 6-2, 6-1.

Serena conquers Wimbleon for the 5th Time

Well she did it - 6th ranked American Serena Williams beat 3rd ranked Polish Radwanska 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 in the ladies' singles final at Wimbledon's Centre Court Saturday afternoon and won the Wimbledon title for the fifth time.

While the first set was a piece of cake for Serena, winning 6-1, the second was certainly hard like the uneaten toast left by Prince Charles many many years ago on his wedding with Diana. Radwanska fought hard and took the match to 6-5 and broke Serena serve four times to win to win the set 7-5.

But it was the third set, which Serena did not want to give away and forced Radwanska to give in 6-2 and won the Wimbledon title.

Venus [right] loses to Serena [left]

She proudly raised the coveted Venus Rosewater Dish for the fifth time, she once clinched from her sister Venus Williams in 2009 and and held on to it for the fourth time in 2010 by beating Russian Vera Zvonareva 6–3, 6–2.

Today, she robbed a chance for Radwanska to win a Grand Slam for her country since it was last won  in 1939, and took position in the Wimbledon title holders of multiple champions below the name of her sister Venus.

Now let us wait for Sunday tomorrow ans see who amongst British Andy Murray and Swiss Roger Federer wins the men's single title. It may be added that the same scenario as of today prevails for tomorrow: Like  Radwanska , Andy Murray too eyes his maiden Wimbledon title and also wants to end a 74 years drought for his country of a Wimbledon title - and like Serena, Federer too eyes the Wimbledon title for the seventh time and equal the record held by William Renshaw and Pete Sampras.

Historic Wimbledon Final 2012: Watch Live Federer vs Murray Free Streaming | 8 July Sunday

Wimbledon this year is into history making: In the Ladies's Singles title between Radwanksa and Serena Williams, being played Saturday afternoon, Serena is eyeing the title for the fifth time, while Radwanska is eyeing her maiden Wimbledon title this year and her country since 1939.

In the Men's Single event, Sunday 8 July is going to be a historic day at Wimbledon too, almost similar to the ladies' singles final: for on this day, two players are vying to make history - but only one may do so, though.

Two men: Andy Murray [left] - Roger Federer [right]
One Aim: Wimbledon Title Men's Single Event 2012
World no. 3 Swiss Roger Federer, who beat defending champion and world no.1 Novak Djokovic in the semi final, Friday marches into the Centre Court of Wimbledon on Sunday 8 July to for the eighth time to win the title for the seventh time and equal the record already held by British William Renshaw and American Pete Sempras.

British no.1 and world no.4 Andy Murray makes his maiden entry into the Wimbledon final and meets Federer to clinch the title and become first British to do so in 74 years since Bunny Austin in 1938.

Murray and Federer have known each other fifteen times since 2005, when they first played each other in Bangkok. Since then they have come a long way with Murray winning over the Swiss eight times. But despite the odds, Federer is being dubbed as a hot favourite to win the title despite being six years elder to Murray for his consistency, grip over the game and resolve. However, Murray has spark and power - and this brings two players facing each other: one with experience, the other with strength and support of home crowd.

Who wins? Well I keep my fingers crossed till the match ends this Sunday.

The historic final between Federer and Murray is scheduled for Sunday 8 July 2012 at the Centre Court

Wimbledon Ladies's Singles Final: Radwanska vs Serena - Free Live Streaming - 7 July

Saturday, 7th July is the day when world no.3 Polish Agnieszka Radwanska steps on the Wimbledon Centre Court for the first time and becomes the first Polish player to play a Grand Slam final in 73 years when Jadwiga Jedrzejowska lost in the women's title match at the French Championships in 1939.

Radwanska can become the world no.1 player if she can stop 6th ranked American Serena Williams from winning the Wimbledon title for the fifth time - and win it for herself for the first time.

Serena, who has been to the Centre Court playing the final seven times before, is now aspiring for a name in Wimbledon history to have won the title FIVE times - an honour already shared by British Charlotte Cooper Sterry and British Lottie Dod, both of the Amateur Era, and of course Serena's sister Venus Williams.

Venus last won the Wimbledon title in 2008 beating sister Serena Williams - Serena clinched the title from Venus the following year.

Radwanska has met Serena twice at Berlin 2008 and Wimbledon 2008 in the fourth time, losing both times to the American.

Serena moved to the finals in amach between former world nos.1, herself and Victoria Azarenka beating her 6-3, 7-(6). Radwanska beat 8th ranked German Anglique Kerber 6-3, 6-4.

Now it is between two aspiring women: One eyeing her first Grand Slam title ever and for her country since 1939 and the other eyeing to hold the Venus Rosewater Dish for the fifth time. Whoever wins, goes down in history.

Watch this crucial and history making final on Saturday 7 July on the Centre Court.

Miami Masters: Polish Superstar Radwanska wins over Russian Fairy Sharapova

Jubilant Radwanska
While it would have been a dream come true for the World Number Two Maria Sharapova to win the Miami Masters Tennis tournament, World Number Four Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska ransacked her dreams to become the queen at Florida Saturday night.

Agnieszka Radwanska beat Maria Sharapova in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 to win the the Sony Ericsson Open women's single title. With this defeat, it is Maria's fourth final which she has not been able to win here at Miami, Florida USA. Although, Sharapova did pose a stiff resisitance in the first set, she could not much impress the Polish superstar, who clinched the second with much ease.

Agnieszka Radwanska, on the other hand has won her second title of the year and her ninth WTA title. She earlier won the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship. It may be added here that the Polish girl did not lose a single set at Miami and showed consistency and resilience to reach the top.

Needless to say the beaming overjoyed Radwanska was very very happy at this great victory:
“I’m just very, very happy that I have been able to play my best tennis since the beginning of the year. Let’s hope that I can continue. I will never be able to serve like Maria but I try different things and mix it up.”
Radwanska now aims to to push for a first grand slam title.

All eye are now set on today's final event at Miami - the men's single final between the World Number One and the defending champion Novak Djokovic and the British Number One Andy Murray, Sunday April 1, 2012. It remains to be seen who surprises who on this day - the 1st April!!
