Pakistan wins second T20 in a hairline finish

The second Twenty20 match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe was a real thriller at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore as Pakistan had in the last over a large target to chase.

But the bowler Bilawal Bhatti was there to save Pakistan from a possible defeat as he hit a six, a double and a four in the first three balls of the last over to bring Pakistan to victory in a hairline finish.

Pakistan won the match with two balls still remaining.

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat and scored 175 for 3 (Williams 58*, Sibanda 49). Chasing the target Pakistan made 176 for 8 (Mukhtar 62, Akmal 30, Mpofu 2-25) to win the match and the series.

Pakistan's Mukhtar Ahmed, who scored a fiery innings of 62 runs, was declared the "man of the match" award.

Pakistan will now play three One-Day Internationals against Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe scored 172/6 in twenty overs.Coming to bat Pakistan reached the target in 19.3 overs with five wickets down.

The victory seemed far away for Pakistan as it needed four runs from four balls at the close of the play - the victory could go either side. But the victory finally went to the hosts with Afridi at crease.

Elton Chigumbura from Zimbabwe scored highest for his team before he was bowled by Wahaab Riaz for 54. Mukhtar Ahmed scored a  brilliant 83 with twelve fours and three sixes before being caught by Richmond Mutumbami of Graeme Cremer's ball.

Pakistan vs Zimbabwe: 2nd Test Match | Watch Free Live Streaming - 10-14 September

Top: Pakistan team return happy after winning first test - below: Saeed Ajmal rejoices a wicket (left) - Younis Khan plays century strokes (right) - Photos(Cricinfo)

Pakistan and Zimbabwe face each other for a decisive 2nd Test Match commencing Tuesday today, 10th September till 14 September at Harare Sports Club cricket grounds.

The first test was a disaster for Zimbabwe as they lost fifteen wickets to Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman. For the hosts, this was too much - facing high-quality spinners. And it is the same venue and same spinners that the hosts will again be facing from today on.

Pakistan's Younis Khan who scored an impressive century in the first test is 48 short of becoming the fourth Pakistan batsman to reach 7000 Test runs, after Javed Miandad, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Yousuf. This test certainly provide him that window of opportunity to realise the 7000 mark.

The likely opposing squads are as under for today's match:
Zimbabwe:
BRM Taylor*†, H Masakadza, RW Chakabva, TL Chatara, E Chigumbura, SW Masakadza, TMK Mawoyo, N Mushangwe, R Mutumbami†, T Panyangara, V Sibanda, Sikandar Raza, P Utseya, BV Vitori, MN Waller

Pakistan:
Misbah-ul-Haq*, Abdur Rehman, Adnan Akmal†, Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali, Ehsan Adil, Faisal Iqbal, Junaid Khan, Khurram Manzoor, Mohammad Hafeez, Rahat Ali, Saeed Ajmal, Shan Masood, Wahab Riaz, Younis Khan

Umpires SJ Davis and REJ Martinesz

The match is scheduled to begin from 10-14 September daily at 10:00 local time (08:00 GMT) at Harare Sports Club.

Pakistan beat Zimbabwe to win the ODI series 2-1

Captain Misbah along with Shahid Afridi hold the ODI series winning trophy [Photo]

Pakistan Saturday rebuffed the hosts Zimbabwe's bogey of winning the first ODI and won the third and decisive ODI to finally win the three ODI series 2-1 on Saturday at Harare Sports Club cricket ground.

In the process Zimbabwe lost a rare chance to win an ODI series against a top cricket team.

Yesterday's third ODI seemed rather one sided when Zimbabwe winning the toss elected to field. Although their bowlers restricted the visting Pakistan team for 260 runs, it was the Pakistani bowlers too who did not allow the hosts to pose any meaningful threat to Pakistan in winning the match. Zimbabwe lost by 108 runs.

The match took place on the backdrop of a payments dispute that threatened a Zimbabwe boycott. The players put the distraction aside to take the field, but the batsmen were nowhere close to competitive despite encouraging signs even in Thursday's defeat.

This time, Pakistani batsmen played responsibly, except of course Shahid Afridi who was out for seven while playing a lousy loose shot on a Chatara ball and was caught by wicket keeper Taylor. Misbah and Shehzad were the best scoring batsmen who scored 67 and 54 respectively. Chatara bagged three wickets for 48.

Coming to bat, the hosts had a rough time at the hands of Pakistani bowlers and only Waller could reach 50s while all other could not score beyond 30. Hafeez, Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman took two wickets each which tiltted the balnce in Pakistan's favour. And the hosts chasing a target of 261 were rerstricted to just 152 runs and lost by 108 runs.

Misbah-ul-Haq (Pakistan) was declared as the player of the match while Mohammad Hafeez (Pakistan) was declared as the player of the series.

Pakistan and Zimbabwe now play two tests starting 3rd and 10th September.

Pakistan vs Zimbabwe: 3rd ODI | Watch Free Live Streaming Online- 31 August

Pakistan and Zimbabwe face each other for a decisive 3rd ODI to decide who wins the ODI series Saturday today at Harare Sports Club today.

After losing two T20Is, Zimbabwe stunned rather over confident Pakistan team by winning the first ODI. Although Pakistan fought back in the second ODI, the decision hangs in balance as both teams have won one ODI each.

So far the Zimbabwe team has put much pressure on Pakistan bowlers, specially Saeed Ajmal and Shahid Afridi who despite good bowling recortd are finding it hard to tackle the hosts. Unless Pakistani bowlers strike hard and its batsmen play responsibly, tides may tilt in Zimbabwe's favour today.

However, Zimbabwe team is in chaos over payement of dues. They aborted a trraining session on Friday over unpaid salaries. And the players have extended to Monday a deadline for Zimbabwe Cricket to clear their dues, which could yet put a cloud over the two-Test series that begins on Tuesday.

The likely opposing squads are as under for today's match:
Zimbabwe squad
BRM Taylor*†, TL Chatara, E Chigumbura, MT Chinouya, T Maruma, H Masakadza, SW Masakadza, TMK Mawoyo, N Mushangwe, TC Mutombodzi, R Mutumbami, T Panyangara, V Sibanda, Sikandar Raza, P Utseya, BV Vitori, MN Waller, SC Williams

Pakistan squad
Misbah-ul-Haq*, Abdur Rehman, Ahmed Shehzad, Anwar Ali, Asad Ali, Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Irfan, Nasir Jamshed, Saeed Ajmal, Sarfraz Ahmed†, Shahid Afridi, Umar Amin

Umpires RK Illingworth and TJ Matibiri

The match is scheduled to begin at Harare Sports Club 31 August 2013 at 09:30 local time (07:30 GMT)

Pakistan vs Zimbabwe: 2nd ODI | Watch Free Live Streaming - 29 August

Let us take a break from the ongoing US Open tennis and go to Harare where hosts Zimbabwe takes on visiting Pakistan cricket team in the second ODI after having out shined Pakistan in the first ODI.

Zimbabwe's shock win in the first ODI was their first against Pakistan in 15 years. In fact it was mainly due to lack of incisiveness on the part of the Pakistan bowlers to contain the hosts and win over the day.

Also, Pakistan's Boom Boom Afridi is playing his typical game again - pomp and show in one series and then going back to his shell of inactivity. He hardly caused a flutter with the bat in the first ODI when the team needed some late push, while his bowling lacked zip and he was taken for easy runs. Pakistan would hope the all-rounder doesn't wait to fire till his place in the side is in doubt again.

Zimbabwe on the other hand is in jubilation as it beat Pakistan after a gap of 15 years and would be looking forward for a repeat performance again today. A win today will earn Zimbabwe a victory of 2 ODIs in a series of three.

The likely opposing squads are as under for today's match:
Zimbabwe squad
BRM Taylor*†, TL Chatara, E Chigumbura, MT Chinouya, T Maruma, H Masakadza, SW Masakadza, TMK Mawoyo, N Mushangwe, TC Mutombodzi, R Mutumbami, T Panyangara, V Sibanda, Sikandar Raza, P Utseya, BV Vitori, MN Waller, SC Williams

Pakistan squad
Misbah-ul-Haq*, Abdur Rehman, Ahmed Shehzad, Anwar Ali, Asad Ali, Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Irfan, Nasir Jamshed, Saeed Ajmal, Sarfraz Ahmed†, Shahid Afridi, Umar Amin

The match is scheduled to begin at Harare Sports Club 29 August 2013 at 09:30 local time (07:30 GMT)

A Zimbabwean probe has recommended life bans for 13 national footballers and officials implicated in a 2009 match-fixing scam in Asia, according to a report released Tuesday.

Although the probe team did not name the players and officials in the report, it further recommended a 10-year ban for seven people, a five-year ban for 37, two-year bans for 25 people and one to two-year bans for 10 players while eight players were exonerated.

Zimbabwe clinch the Tri-Nation T20 series title

What else Zimbabwe could have asked for when they beat South Africa in the tri-nations (Bangladesh, South Africa, Zimbabwe) T20 final and won the title, to utter dismay of the South Africans.

South Africa made 6-146 off 20 overs with Faf du Plessis (66). But when it came for the Zimbabwe to chase the paltry target, the South Africans were simple stunned as Zimbabwe reached 1-150 with 17 balls to spare. The win for Zimbabwe is largely attributed to an impressive unbeaten partnership between captain Brendan Taylor (59) and Hamilton Masakadza (58) - both players were at crease when the victory came.

It may be added that Zimbabwe beat the Proteas by 29 runs last Wednesday in the pool phase of a tournament that included Bangladesh, but lost by six wickets to South Africa on Saturday and entered the final as outsiders.

Zimbabwe beat South Africa in T20 Tri-Series Cricket

Although many contend that South Africa has fielded rather a younger team against Zimbabwe, nevertheless the Zimbabwe beat South Africa by 29 runs at Harare Wednesday.

Zimbawe scored 174/4, Sibanda 58, Masakadza 55, while South Africa could make only 147, Ingram 48, Levi 40, thus losing the match by 29 runs.

Many believed that despite a younger team, without  AB, Steyn, Kallis, Morne and Botha, the South Africans were still the strongest in the tri-series T20 tournament. Therefore, winning over the South Africans is really a gerat feat accomplished by Zimbabwe.
